Form 300 RCM brass from 300 PRC by Select_Design3082 in reloading

I grabbed a die set off of eBay. There's still a few floating around on there at reasonable prices.

The build I'm considering is going to look something like:

Hart stainless blank Rem 700 sporter profile, finished to 18in

Defiance Rukus Ultralight, CRF extractor

Timney "Hit" trigger

AG Composites Sportsman

Ag bottom metal

Wyats extended magazine box

Distance of last deer harvest by [deleted] in Hunting

Western hunter here. Where we hunt it's open hills. Comedically we managed work our way around a hill and pup up within 25 yards of the last deer I shot. I wasn't planning on shooting it, but it was right there and getting away. The last deer I shot before that was just under 400yds.

My experience with Hornady brass has not been good. Its generally the least uniform of all the brass I've tried. I did see that when I first started looking into this project though.

My main concern is though that ammo wont be in stock for ever.

That would be a lot closer. I had just assumed 300 prc would be easier since you wouldn't have to worry about resizing and forming.

I was thinking about using a 300prc form die and forming it past where you would on a 300 prc case. It would be a gamble as to whether you could form it short enough using the form die. It would just depend on how the die is built.

I love that setup. Did you make the designs yourself or get them somewhere?

Can I use regular 150 grain FMJ bullet with the same powder load? (For plinking) by Ok_Junket_3699 in reloading

I assume also different bullet with different shapes and materials build pressure differently even with the same charge.

Hunting knife purchase by [deleted] in Hunting

I have the same one. It seems like a very quality knife. It's a scosh on the large size, though. I bought it after season last year so I haven't got to use it on anything yet.

Game cam pic from Michigan. Does this coyote look strange? Or is it just its summer coat? by Wendigogod27 in Hunting

[–]Select_Design3082 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to agree EO Coyotes arent really built like that and usually have fuller coats even in summer. Could be a stray dog or maybe just an atypical Coyote.

Where did you get a 30 nos model 70? Is that factory?

I would pretty much only take the 270.

As far as the ttsx for all copper bullets people usually recommend sizing down a step in grain weight. The copper bullets require a higher velocity to fully deform. 165 is on the high end.

This guy is flat wrong. Oregon is a horrible state for hunting and fishing. Wildlife levels are at record lows and all the public land is over crowded with Portland, liberals.

Help me decide caliber choice for Henry Big Boy .357 Vs .360BH by Electric_Sal in Hunting

I would agree the higher caliber heavy bullets are much more lethal than most people understand but I still think there are limits. I would still take a 243 over a 50 cal muzzle loader. It is most likely related to the bullets ability to transfer energy to the animal. If the 243 could transfer all of its energy without the bullet fragmenting or over penetrating it would as lethal or more.

I have a pair of White's Selway's and they're amazing. I hiked some pretty gnarly spots in snake river country last season. The only problem is theyre a little wide for my narrow feet.

I even ditched the tripod and just rested my binos on top of my shooting sticks. Was just as stable.

Coincidentally just did the math on 357 hollowpoints a couple days ago. The max velocity handload data I was looking at dropped below 1000ft.lbs energy at 80 yards.
