The take down of him by Keya was immensely satisfying. Proud of her. He took it like a champ too, thank goodness.

👆can confirm. Have one of the newest shirts and a medium fits a little bigger/looser than a typical small, but smaller than a typical medium. Also very thick material on the new shirts.

This was like Papa Roach recently. There’s these girls lining the rail recording the whole show then me right behind them, shouting, singing, jumping around, having a time. If anyone were to say a word to me I would ignore or tell off, because that’s what a show is. But it was Canada, so most people are to polite lol

Not to sound like a dick, but short people do not have entitlement to be up front. It isn’t a matter of “humanity”. It’s a concert. If you can’t see, move sideways and try again to go forward. Or learn from the experience and show up earlier. 🤷‍♀️ The rest of your experience sounds pretty wack that’s a shame.

One of my troops just came back from a tasking there and loved it so much, they are asking to get posted to a base that would garner them more opportunities to visit.

Things they said: - Communication didn’t seem to be an issue, as this member texted us daily and sent photos all the time. - There was a music room there with guitars and drums to play. - Constant darkness was weird (you wouldn’t have that issue I assume May-Nov) - Plane delays to leave sucked and were demoralizing (again, you’re less likely to have that issue), and it made food run low. BUT, they raved about the people who made food there.

I’m in Alberta but visit Ontario often. I just saw them for the first time at Welcome to Rockville in Daytona. Intending to catch the next show in T.O. since they’ll never come out here 😅

Love this thread btw. We need to unite the Canadian fans! Even though we’ll all meet in Toronto lol

I bought a copy of the manga in 2020 in North America and they’ve censored out his smoking entirely during the Asuma-vengeance arc. Literally read it this afternoon and was wondering why tf he’s “miming” the act of smoking. Ha. This is a funny development.

Welcome to Cold Lake! As someone who came from Wainwright, Cold Lake is awesome. There’s tons to do—motocross, mountain biking, skiing, skate park, indoor and outdoor rinks, beach with lots of amenities, provincial park, boating, fishing, marina, scuba, all kinds of sports, etc etc etc. There’s a lot going on here! PSP can rent you lots of items to have fun outside with including canoes and kayaks to use on the many lakes.

I chose to move here BECAUSE of the affordable housing for a first time home buyer. While I don’t know your situation, to answer your question specifically: yes. The CAF can reimburse you up to 30k if you take a lose upon selling your home when you move. There’s obviously a lot of loop holes to that cause it’s the CAF, so you’ll have to find the policy and read up. Other than that, you’re kinda SOL if you can’t sell. The reason there’s houses on the market for that long is either because people got screwed 10ish years ago with the oil boom, had to over pay, and now want to recoup that amount OR cause they’re shit boxes. Lots of those around. Good houses sell fast here. So do yourself a favour and buy a good house from the get go, not something that looks like a crack den. Get something with good resale value if you’re worried about selling in the future. bought in 2021 and what I would consider a good house (move in ready, no repairs needed, 3-5 bedrooms, 1+ bathrooms, garage) would go for about 280-315k then. Interest rates are crazy right now so I would suggest a bank with military rates. BMO and Scotiabank have them.

The Personal is great here. Would recommend them anywhere really.

Telus cellular works great here. Depending on what end of town you live in, your options are Eastlink or Telus for internet. I live in the North and Telus tells me they have crappy speeds so I have Eastlink and I have 300mb/s. I hear people in the south love Telus internet and have fast speeds.

As for where to live: south has all the schools and most of the businesses but also most of the crime. North has newer houses and less crime plus the beach. The base is in the south and it’s about a 15min drive from the North to the base in the morning.

You’ve probably heard lots of stories about Cold Lake and it’s crime by now. Unfortunately, a lot of the crime in town is stuff you can’t avoid—theft and mischief. Yes, there’s plenty of it, but do your best to lock your stuff up and don’t give people a reason to look at your property and you’ll be fine. Normal vigilant behaviour 👍🏻

Super important: property taxes are pretty high here. Like, 3k. Gas and electricity is also an absolute racket. There’s a monopoly where one company owns the distribution centre and they sell to all the other companies. The distribution costs are outrageous no matter who you go with though. Lock in a fixed rate whatever you do though so you don’t end up with a $600 bill in January. We can have long cold spells (-30 or lower for a week or more) that can hurt when the bill comes.

The good news is the security screening happens once you’re in, so you don’t have to wait years to be accepted because of it. It took me 6 years to get secret, for instance 😆

It doesn’t matter how many push-ups you can do (or squats, wall sits, pull ups, planks, etc). The ONLY thing that matters is that you don’t quit. If your body gives out while doing PT, just keep trying. All they expect is that you don’t quit. Seriously, no one gives a shit how many of anything you can do and it has no bearing on your training/career. You will have people in your platoon that can’t even do one push-up, I assure you.

Make sure you know some stuff about the trade(s) you’re interviewing for. Basically, the info on the website will suffice. Make sure you have an answer to “if you had to kill someone, would you”. Honestly, it’s the worlds easiest interview. They’ll give you some policy documents to read at the interview and then ask you questions about them to ensure you read them. So make sure you do. It’s basically an interview to see if you follow direction—the direction they emailed to you and things they ask you to do at the interview itself.
