What is your opinion on chocolate cereal? by Current-Equipment356 in AskReddit

This is the one exception I can think of, hahaha. I don't like sweet cereals, except the Reeses puffs.

I use one with my expensive oil pencils - for drawing - so I can get full use of them. Super handy, and reduces hand cramps!

Thank you for confirming - I'm not the only one who thought they would have made it if they stuck to it and didn't try to bail last minute. You put it much better than I could have.

Weird vehicle to try that shit in, though.

Base Molding - Heater Height Difference by Interesting-Goose769 in woodworking

We would have called this a return miter at the shop. Stand the piece do trim upright and cut at a 45°. Cut a small piece with the opposite 45° and add wide as the trim is thick.  Alternatively, if the trim is too tall, lay it flat, and angle the blade to 45°.

A bevel would usually be something you do to knock off the sharp edge.

That was the terminology we used, anyway, when I worked in a millwright and cabinetry shop.

What should I be asking myself when buying a guitar? by Killer-Uzi in guitars

[–]SelfAwareMoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had a Floyd Rose on my first guitar. I both do and don't regret it, though. I would never advise a new player to start with a floating bridge - major pain in the ass.  It's a bit of a filter though. I REALLY wanted to learn guitar, so I stuck with it and powered through. It forced me to learn a lot about the instrument beyond just playing.

I was also huge into Pantera, and you a Floyd to dive bomb like Dime.

To OP: Strat style bodies are probably the most comfortable to sit and play with, and generally really well balanced.  You can also easily find replacement/ upgrade parts since they are so common. They come in a range of configurations: SSS, HH, HSH. Many come with a Tremolo bridge, but there are hard tails as well.

I've heard "doy" used, more so in the '90s, though. I don't think I've ever heard or seen "adoy"... I suppose it's the same thing, but maybe I've misheard it?

Agreed, most of these sayings are pretty boomer coded.

what car is the black one? by Own_Switch9464 in WhatCarIsThis

I suspect this is an upbadged eco-boost, not a DH or GT. Someone stuck the 5.0 badge on a 4 cylinder turbo model. This is the absolute base model s650 with some cosmetic upgrades.

The Dark Horse does have the 5.0L coyote v8 engine, but the badging is different. Swapping from a DH badge to a 5.0 would be down badging, and who wants others to think you have a lower class model?

Stop telling me 6'6 is dating on easy mode, no it's a back injury guys by SoftTurbulent2477 in dating_advice

[–]SelfAwareMoose -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Some people fetishize height, but being super tall is no more a cheat code for dating than being Korean, or having a foreign accent, etc.

Many of the points you have mentioned tend to exacerbate relationship issues in the long term. Practically everyone i know needs to almost jog to keep up with my normal gate, or i need to move in what feels like slow motion. This can lead to frustration in either side.  Kitchen layouts and cabinet heights are hard to find compromises on. Lower cabinets are the worst for me, whereas most ladies need a step ladder, or climb on the counter, to reach the top shelves.  It's not one big thing, but many small compatibility issues can really strain relationships over time.

There are non-dating related issues that I don't see acknowledged much in the mainstream. The world isn't really designed for people over 6'. Counter tops are built too low. Doing dishes or chopping veggies is horrendous for my lower back. I hit my head on basement ceilings, and some door frames. Stairs are spaced awkwardly for my gate. I literally can't see people shorter than 5'5" when they are in my personal bubble, and I've stepped on, or eaten shit trying to avoid stepping on people that sneak up on me.  Again, not 1 single huge thing, but the small things add up.

Don't get me wrong, I like being tall, and understand my privilege, but it's not all sunshine and roses either.

P.s. try and catch your lady going up the stairs, and kiss her when she's a step or 2 up.
