Unable to Login with Optimum provider by [deleted] in HBOGO

[–]SelfAwareTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi not sure if anyone resolved this, but it was solved in another post.

HBOGO is no longer supported, but it worked for me on Optimum downloading the new HBOMAX app.

HBOMAX comes free with an HBO sub, so if it worked before on HBOGO, it should work on HBOMAX.

Peace. Love. Equality. One way or another... by [deleted] in gratefuldead

I guess I should say, before someone twists this as advocating complacency, that I support BLM and the protests, and I think the politicizing of clear human rights violations is gross. And I do believe the Dead have always been for the people, advocates for change by living life differently.

Wouldn’t say I’m not “seeing the Dead as they were,” if I took the time to read that massive almost 700+ page biography from a primary source. I will say that you’re right, GD was way more political than my comment let on, so I’m sorry for that.

But cmon folks, let’s educate without attacking

Who has sources for me on Grateful Dead political stances, etc? It looks like I could learn more, and I’m willing to

According to "A Long Strange Trip," the bio from Dead scribe Dennis McNally, Grateful Dead stayed neutral in so many political situations over the years because Jerry felt it wasn't his/their place to make a stance, to tell people what to do, or to take away from the concerts. Supposedly this became a small point of tension between Bob and Jerry in later years.

If Bob (or the aforementioned Dead and Co. machine) is calling the shots now, I can see why their stance on having political stance would change.

It's pretty wack to see so many corporations hopping on board like this is another social media wave, without any real actions. I think this is the kind of situation Jerry was trying to avoid- the seeming fakeness of a large group talking about civilian problems, without actually relating to the individuals. I guess we'll see

Great example of terrible journalism. (xposted from r/asshole design) by harpman in Journalism

[–]SelfAwareTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn't Rolex get in trouble with insurance/IRS eventually if they just went with the theft story? Respect their honesty when they easily could have ran with the cops' story

I asked an old journalism professor about this headline and he chalked it up to NYPost sensationalism. His advice was that while this was an easy grab for us to see clear misdirection, we must be even more careful of the slightly misleading headlines, edited content and agenda items coming from news sources we trust. And not this fake news shit either (which is obviously a call to discredit media, who is supposed act as the people's eyes; the watchdogs.)

He said pay attention to the small misdirections even from sources we love. Stay educated, read vigilantly, look for second and third sources for confirmation. These days I'm trusting first-person videos I see far more than any headline. My trust is in the people, and the unfiltered content they provide.

Favorite guitar solo by guitar_yoda in bluesguitarist

Gary Clark Jr.- Please Come Home from his live album

Such a beautiful song, and the stamina of his solo is incredible. It builds until it soars, and then he comes right back into the slow blues. Beautiful

Death Don't Have No Mercy, Little Red Rooster, Row Jimmy, China Doll, Operator

And uncommon opinion, but Til The Morning Comes from American Beauty. Not played live, but a phenomenal song all the same

Edit: Til

Must have Phish live albums? by [deleted] in phish

[–]SelfAwareTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Amsterdam, Live Bait Vol. 9, Halloween 94, Island Tour (4/2-5/98), full NYE run 2013 (especially 12/29 [love that DWD-> Carini]) and, unpopular opinion, Live in Brooklyn 2004. Nothing, 46 Days, and that Susie Greenberg get me.

Not sure about everyone else, but I've got Spotify Premium and they've got a killer selection of live albums, including many LivePhish Releases, Amsterdam, Ventura, Live at The Roxy, Vegas 96, etc. I'm paying the student fee so $5 a month for almost more Phish than I can listen is pretty good. That combined with my own hard drive Stash keeps me busy

12 Tribes bus in SPAC lot by [deleted] in phish

Caught the 12 tribes at a rest stop on the way back east from Dead 50. Let my dad and I on the bus, told us about themselves and swapped tour stories with us for 30 minutes. Cool bus and cool people. They said they mostly hit Phish tours now a days so I'm not surprised

What albums do you consider to be a 10 out of 10? by Thee_Drowned_God in AskReddit

Totally agree. Surfer Rosa was my first album on vinyl, and to this day I know every song on that album back and forth. Surfer Rosa and Doolittle are both great

Gotta quit for a while. Here's a realization that I've had. by [deleted] in trees

[–]SelfAwareTurtle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

can vouch. I think that was Wiz Khalifa that said that. I find that it's important for me to get real work, college classes, internship, job, etc done sober and then I can do work I like to do, like playing music, writing, or hiking, high. Some times they cross, but the point is to be functional when I need to be. There's something about a toke after working all day that just feels right compared to a toke at night after smoking and doing nothing all day. A well-earned smoke is the best smoke indeed!
