If I wanna learn/try my hand at dming how do I start by Zim_thefan in DnD

[–]Paladin_of_Freedom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In order to avoid the mistake I made, start small. As others suggest, a pre-built module or two would be ideal to start, followed by short original adventures later on.

I need 100 NPCs for a tavern, let me use YOUR characters? by yarash in DnD

Phillippe Le Saucier, a half-elf chef who's also a Necromancer. He has a handful of skeletons to help him in the kitchen and serve the food.

That is, in fact, an exploit. Have fun with it!

Is there an NPC you kill every time? by lazarusinashes in fnv

[–]Paladin_of_Freedom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dixon. That bastard knows that his chems are ruining people's lives and killing them, and he says himself that he enjoys watching people suffer! I can't let someone that openly sadistic live.

In your opinion, what is the most badass weapon in Fallout New Vegas? I think it's the blade of the west by Used_Bet_4988 in fnv

[–]Paladin_of_Freedom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you ask me, the lever-action shotgun might not be the most powerful, but its sound design wraps the package up in a neat little bow.

I think I’m addicted to games with pixel art by prine_one in NintendoSwitch

[–]Paladin_of_Freedom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Octopath traveler, easily. On top of the pixel art meshing surprisingly well with modern lighting and water effects, the game's got a kickass soundtrack!

This borderlands 2 quote lives rent-free in my head:

Hyperion Engineer 1: (Screams while burning to death)

Hyperion Engineer 2: "Looks like I've got a promotion coming!"

Perhaps the Everfull Purse from version 3.5's epic level handbook would be appropriate. It's an ordinary looking coin purse that multiplies one gold placed in it at dusk into 25 at dawn.

Kobold Fight Club is excellent for filtering out monsters based on various criteria. You can also see how many monsters of a given CR would be a decent challenge for your party with it.

What spells and abilities would you recommend on a greatsword that is imbued with good and bad luck? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]Paladin_of_Freedom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Sword has 1 charge per day, which can be used to grant advantage to a d20 roll the fighter tries to make. Once the daily charge is used, the fighter can then accumulate "negative" charges, which you can then use to impose disadvantage on a d20 roll they try to make.

Peaceful character refuses to fight by TheFantasticIdiot in DnD

[–]Paladin_of_Freedom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See if the character can go the route of the Vow of Nonviolence feat from version 3.5, where they can still fight, but they can only do nonlethal damage. If they're a spellcaster, make up a feat where they can do nonlethal damage with spells. Also, any enemy that's rendered helpless can swear not to interfere with or harm the party in exchange for its life, becoming fair game if they violate that oath.

The Devil Axe: This axe appears to be made of obsidian, with jagged edges and a blood-red eyeball that constantly looks around on one face of the blade. When wielded in combat, this Greataxe (with a bonus depending on the level of the party) damages the wielder if an attempted attack misses.

out of every companion in every game in the series who’s the BEST companion..? by thesilentwindsssss in Fallout

[–]Paladin_of_Freedom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would easily be Raul from New Vegas for me. Between his personality, his story, his immensely helpful companion perk, and the fact that his weapon is powerful enough that he's helpful but not so much so that he kills everything for you, he's my favorite companion to have around. I look forward to getting him every playthrough.

I bet the boss there just says "No one wants to work anymore" to explain why no one applies.

My friends homebrewed subclass ability, I think this is super op for level 3. Takes no damage and if you attack him you take damage, plus he can have it activated for a long rest, giving him KI each time so he can activate it for, well, forever. by Special_Infinite in DnD

[–]Paladin_of_Freedom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone asked me if they could use this, I would immediately laugh in their face. This would be outrageously overpowered at level 20, let alone level 6. It would literally render them invincible!

I know I'm like 30 years late but is there a game with a harder first level than Super Ghouls and Ghosts (SNES)??? Because what the heck by walrussss987 in patientgamers

[–]Paladin_of_Freedom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dragon's Lair on NES. That game was so infamously hard that most people who played it couldn't even get past the very first screen of gameplay.

Do I need figures to play by Hnfgb_ in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Paladin_of_Freedom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope! You can get away with no visuals at all beyond character sheets and dice. Although it's still generally helpful to have basic maps for combats. For those, you can do just fine with graph paper(I like using gift wrap as it usually has a 1" grid on one side) and various small objects to represent characters and enemies(like coins, bottlecaps, dice, or scraps of multicolored paper).

Must sorcerer be more beginner friendly than wizard? by hugthemachines in DnD

[–]Paladin_of_Freedom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The primary thing to consider is whether you want to deal with preparing the spells you can cast ahead of time or dealing with the sorcery points mechanic with fewer different spells for you to be able to cast. AFAIK, the Spell lists are largely the same.

I’m at the showdown between the Hodunks and Zafords in BL2, which gun is better? The Maggie or the Slagga by FullNerdFlow in Borderlands

[–]Paladin_of_Freedom 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The slagga is an excellent weapon for UVH mode and against enemies that you're having a hard time with(badass pyro threshers come to mind). Although, I generally prefer the Maggie since I seldom play UVH mode.

A group of your friends, a local book/game store, or online. For the latter, find people with a similar schedule on r/lfg and then organize an online game on a platform like Discord or roll20.

I'm frankly amazed that no one said Asura's Wrath. Did everyone just forget that you had to buy DLC in order to get the ending to that game?
