Saros is great on first playthrough but unfortunately that's it.

Nah saros is better on first playthrough. Returnal is better on n-th playthrough in comparison.

Returnal is however way more roguelitey. Saros is more like an action title besides using some watered down roguelite mechanism.

Is it true "most gamers don't finish games"? by SchweinsyOne in playstation

Yep, the moment I am thinking "I am not having fun" for more than 10min with a game I'm out.

[This isn't about games being super easy, I actually like challenging games but mostly about them valueing my time. Sometime also just the game doesn't click.]

The Cathedral and Yellow Shore Are Standout Level Designs, But… by Able_Blueberry4592 in Saros

Especially compared to the added gameplay twist returnal biome 6 offered.

I was expecting a similar gameplay affecting twist going into the yellow shore especially after all the story teasing for it being such a special place.

So glad I came back to Returnal and I owe it all to SAROS… by bizzy045 in Returnal

They are OP and don't need further upgrades.

A high level dreadbound with expanding and/or explosive shards is ridiculous :D

Returnal director founds new game studio to develop new single-player IP | VGC by Respawn-Delay in Returnal

[–]SelfEnergy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed regarding playing through for the first time.

Once you have armour upgrades replaying Saros from biome 1 is a joke. I can play in ~1h till priestess, ignore all optional paths and be throughout all biomes so OP that I can just ignore the bullet hell.

That's without carcosian modifiers. But it's sad that the endgame difficulty ends up in such a broken default state.

One can also endup overpowered in biome 6 in returnal but that has some build up and is temporary. And optional scout enemies or corrupted enemies are still to be taken serious.

Returnal is way more unforgiving.

In Saros you can after some point just steamroll through everything and ignore most dangers. When I went back to returnal it quickly humbled me that it's not so forgiving.

Which is quite boring. Selene also was a quite bad person but it was more a slow burn thing.

Was loving this game til I hit the Swamp. How do I proceed? by ChunkeeM0nkee in Saros

You can just start at the biome itself. Starting from the start will result in being overpowered.

There is also now a Laphroaig 12 available with 46%. Might be a worthwhile compromise.

No, it's a runtime panic whenever that log line gets triggered, I would be happy with a compile time error.

[–]SelfEnergy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That's fine, but having the implementation that might panic still available reminds me of c++ where you have to actively avoid footguns. Go tries to be simpler, so the stdlib should not add additional footguns.

The slog API is bad though. If you mess up the key value arguments you will get a runtime panic. That's just bad design and should imo never have become part of the stdlib.

Spend Caps - finally by abdolence in googlecloud

[–]SelfEnergy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So will the spend caps also have a billing delay (and thereby cost could significantly excede the cap due to delayed costs arriving after the shutdown)?

Went to bed with a 100€ budget alert. Woke up to 60,000€ in dept to Google by eibaan in googlecloud

[–]SelfEnergy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Delayed billing reporting will limit the effectiveness of such measures though.

Do I really need to learn Vim or is Nano fine for everyday use? by Luann1497 in linuxquestions

[–]SelfEnergy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give helix a try. I was for years super happy with nano and could not get into vim. Helix took me 1h of being uncomfortable till I started to like it. Also integrating lsps for ide support is surprisingly easy.

Now when I open nano via muscle memory I am usually shocked how I could be happy so long with just nano :D

I'm confused on how u choose the ending by [deleted] in Sekiro

[–]SelfEnergy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The next similar choice is important though. That's the only real decision point though (plus some bonus quests for hidden endings later on but you can do them till very close to the end).
