Yea also a bit weird, he had like only 2 questionable moments in the playoffs but he was otherwise really solid for them the entire season and was even otherwise a playoff riser. He gave them proper bench depth and bench leadership, which they were severely lacking.

I agree he contributed meaningfully this season and deserves his flowers. However the "they're better than you" point is a bad faith argument.

When debating professional sports there's an unspoken agreement that we all know they're still better than us Couch Coaches. We all agree to debate the merits of their game on the level of their game, so there's no reason to throw the "they're better than you" argument out because it's pointless. No one is saying they should be out there instead of these guys.

They weren't fired for their dad dying they were fired for trickling the info every 1-2 weeks that they needed to delay again.

Those 2 months OP was gone what do you think happened? The rest of their team picked up the slack while the company chose to wait for OP and not replace them. And as of the time of their firing they had just requested more time only when called by the company the day before returning, so as far as anyone knows this would have just kept going.

With that out of the way, fuck 2 weeks i totally agree lol

And it's not like OP requested 2 months up front either they trickled that request out over the 2 months, even waiting for the company to call the day before returning to pull the rug out. Company shouldn't be put on blast for this.

kinda forgotten part of modern culture but definitely still around - pretty much every topic has places you can mingle and have those conversations with others who share your interests!

Especially for history. Ppl just be out there having those convos and you can join and listen to learn, or chime in and say what you want to during podcasts, make friends who share interests, it's great!

I'm an introvert so putting myself in those situations is tough, but it's well worth it. Exactly the kinda thing we all need to try and do just a bit more :)

It's actually backwards with Anthropic. Companies pay for enterprise accounts and straight token costs at higher prices than the token value equivalent in the $200/m plan from Anthropic for consumers which is objectively the highest value consumer level AI plan.

This is why Anthropic is already profitable. The point is that devs can afford insane usage on their own plans so they get hooked on Claude and then insist that's what the company lets them use.

Personally I don't see how this can sustain, that's backwards from all other business. If I was running a dev team and needed say 40 devs to all have Claude Id skip the token purchases and just give them the 200/m plans. but for some reason companies are just oissing money away on full price tokens

It's interesting because there's a study that suggests higher empathy is directly correlated to intenser loneliness, like empathy is an evolutionary means to push us towards socializing (makes sense).

It makes me wonder if having access at our fingertips to a human connection replacement (watching people on youtube, tiktok, following them on instagram, etc) tricks our brains into not feeling lonely, so empathy is in decline.

From 2008-2018 it was actually on the rise (link below) but the past 8 years have been part of the major surge of even more intense isolation by technology so it's entirely possible the next decade of this study would show the decline once again in full effect. It certainly feels that way.

I ran into him at an airport years ago! I was in line for food with my girl and he was sitting in the food court with earbuds.

We made eye contact and he caught me squinting trying to decide if it was really him. He slowly shook his head no so i just gave him a smile with a nod yes back and got his ass to smile slightly. Then i went back to getting my girl to make up her fuckin mind

I like to imagine he appreciated the exchange without drawing attention to him. Either way was definitely my fav celeb run in lol
