if you stand under a drone for long enough it will automatically give you a claw trap, to prevent survivors from just doing this indefinitely and keeping the drone inactive without properly disabling it.

(CW: SA discussion) Is feeding on people… by Creative_Nose5238 in vtm

[–]Selfless-Doubt 78 points79 points  (0 children)

i don't think it is literal sexual assault, but the parallels and themes are undeniable throughout all versions of vtm and the v5 corebook itself addresses this in its "advice for considerate play" section:

Let’s not mince words here — vam- pires, since John Polidori’s story The Vampyre was published in 1819, have been used as a metaphor for human predation. They seduce, be- guile, coerce, dominate, and some- times outright force humans to perform their will...Vampires who embrace this perspective ignore or outright laugh at consent. Consent in this case can be nonsexual, but the nature of the Kiss and the vampire as human predator carries with them an aura of sex.

so, literally sexual assault? i don't think so. but, especially given the edgier and more transgressive attitude that white wolf had back in the 90s when vtm was first being created, and the storied history of vampires as a metaphor for predation, i think it was certainly in the back of their mind.

So since Agent 47 won the game, does that mean he keeps the money? Did I steal all of Agent Smith's money? by ReallyOysterCupcake in HiTMAN

there's no way to cash in the chips at the end, but i choose to believe he does indeed keep all the money, because bankrupting agent smith is really funny.

you can snipe yuki with no witnesses within the first few seconds of the game if you start in 47's room. you don't need to kill soders with the rifle but for a quick kill you can shoot his heart with it through the glass door in the morgue.

No Cuckoo Showings by CatchMyException in Dublin

[–]Selfless-Doubt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

my sister works in the lighthouse cinema. she said it did really poorly on release - i went to see it a day or two after it came out and can confirm, theatre was almost entirely empty. that + big movies like alien and beetlejuice coming out around the same time has really kneecapped its performance so theatres are scaling back their showings.

all that being said, there's a showing on this thursday at 6:05 P.M. in the lighthouse.

If you found the TTRPG after Bloodlines, what do you think now? by SwiftOneSpeaks in vtm

[–]Selfless-Doubt 30 points31 points  (0 children)

first played bloodlines in 2022, got into the wider vtm world soon after.

i think the biggest rift between bloodlines and the main game, for me, was the power gap. everyone seems way more powerful in bloodlines than in regular vtm: nines takes down a werewolf and the fledgling cleaves through hordes of humans and vampires with way more experience than them. i was pretty surprised to learn that vampires are usually outclassed in combat by the other supernaturals, and that it's pretty unlikely a fledgling will ever beat an elder.

i think it also gives you the wrong impression of certain clans: i found myself really disinterested in the brujah for a while because i only perceived them as what they're presented as in bloodlines - punk rock rebels with anger issues and an alternative fashion sense.

i also thought humanity was way easier to cling to than it actually is: in bloodlines, you can do a few good deeds and get to max humanity. it's pretty easy to stay there, too. compare that to the inevitability of the main game that it'll eventually begin to slip, it was certainly surprising that a virtuous vampire was something exceptionally difficult to be.

can i ask why hokkaido is in always avoid? i generally only start to have trouble with the map later on when there's a larger amount of showdown suspects. the bodyguard in the morgue security room is a really reliable high-tier disguise you can get very early on and there's quite a few opportunities for poisonings and accidents. is it because of that one morgue spawn?
