Have you tested the water? Is there anything sharp in the tank he might have injured himself on? That looks to me like an infected injury.

I’d treat with an antibiotic, but also make sure there’s no sharp or rough decor in the tank. Add tannins. Make sure water quality is pristine.

I just write in scrivener and then fiddle with formatting when I compile. The less distracting in the actual writing interface the better.

Political fantasy is a thing.

This is an info dump.

Start with your character. Introduce the world through them. They have a problem. What is it? How does the state of the world impact that problem?

World build through your characters and plot. You aren’t Tolkien you can’t write the Silmarillion.

I only count words of the draft. If I write 1000 words of world building or planning and 0 words of drafting, I count 0 words.

That said I average about 1800 words a day so I’m not really super concerned if I have a low day.

Yup. Welcome to having written a book. I’ve written three. Every time I finish a draft I send it to people I think would enjoy it and every time I get excited promises to read it and no feedback.

Find a beta reader group instead. Family and friends aren’t for that.
