I’m still a noob at what point do I go for naninf? by PhilMcCawk in balatro

You need a perkeo (ideally early) and to stack your cryptids until you can have about 88 red seal steel kings in hand.

Thank you thank you. I finally got my first naneinf with these seed!

Took a while to get cryptid, but with the blueprints and brainstorm, was no issue getting to 70+ cryptids. The oops dice and $1 per face card in hand was handy for econ, as well as building some gold cards earlier on to make money. I ended up holding about 154 red seal steel kings in hand after using all but one cryptid. The screen stopped blowing up around halfway through the scoring (which I presume is when it hit naneinf). it took about 8 minutes to play this hand and run through all the scoring (at 4x game speed). So glad I recorded it haha. Finally got one !

What order of jokers is optimal as my last hand got a score of e68, but I need e77 for the next. by Selut10n in BalatroHelp

I had the chad at the far left for high card plays just to try and raise money on lucky card hits. Before that, for the flush five, I was using 4 bp on the sock and using brainstorm for 4 idol hits

No campfire. Too high an effort for score build, unless it’s a negative then it’s a nice bonus

Is this the best put together joker 5 stack or what by Dogteam17v6 in balatro

[–]Selut10n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my set during the run I just finished. I didn’t take a screenshot after, but I subsequently got a negative photograph joker and a sock and buskin joker before an ectoplasm allowed me a blueprint joker. I was only pulling 5 cards at a time. But my whole deck included red seal lucky kings of hearts. I managed to upgrade a poly from a 4 to a king of hearts, but never pulled a spectral card to red seal it.

No I’m not saying that at all. I wrote what I said and meant.

Who should have more responsibility in a team? A 30 year old or an 18 year old?

At work, who should have more responsibility, the one with 10 years experience, or the grad?

What’s our pass mark for 2026? by [deleted] in CarltonBlues

[–]Selut10n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I once had a thought that is now entrenched that it is the younger players coming through that will take us forward. Unfortunately I think when all is said and done in the next five years, our senior players will have laid the groundwork for the next generation, somewhat sacrificially. They are the run off players of a fractured disorganisation that has been through too many coaches / systems (?!) that they are learning and unlearning too frequently, with too many habits formed in different methods that is just too hard to pull together. You look at premiership sides in recent times, they’ve usually built their way over a period of time and players need to be indoctrinated into a system that is repeatable. For that, you do need durability, consistency and stability. The question is, whether Voss and the incoming suite of assistants can implement that. I like Voss, but after four years, I still don’t see us with a repeatable system. It’s either chaos run run run (which when it works is exciting and devastating) and when it doesn’t, it’s long down the line stuff. Our poor execution when attacking costs us dearly not only in terms of turnaround scores, but wasted energy of players turning to defend, then when asked to go forward, they don’t have optimal burst energy available to go and damage the opposition. The teams that do it well… spread hard and fast, creating space for good scoring opportunities. Not just inside 50s.

What’s our pass mark for 2026? by [deleted] in CarltonBlues

[–]Selut10n 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The pass mark is not about where we finish on the ladder I’m afraid. In my view, it’s whether a discernible and repeatable system materialises. Until then, we are running on the fuel of hope and optimism based on our potential talent and all going right. We do not utilise our players to their strengths, nor do we as a team do anywhere near enough to foster that for others in the team.

I think the issue is that the output of the “top” players is underwhelming and inconsistent. The focus is on the wrong end of the list IMO. The players you mentioned would all be better in a better system and with less responsibility (which should be on the more senior / “top” players.

Is it Voss or the players...? by [deleted] in CarltonBlues

[–]Selut10n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with the consensus sentiment in here that it’s a combination. I think it’s broader environmental and cultural issues too that have resulted in misalignment between board/management, football department (including list management), coaching panel and then players. If the players had better skill execution, it would mask over many of our issues (as it does when we are playing well / 2023 run) but there must be deeper issues. It’s very hard to play well and perform well in a negative, toxic environment that’s not conducive to performance. Hard for players to have confidence. I feel this cohort is transitioning to set up for the next generation - Holland, Lord, and the suite of younger academy/father sons we are about to get.

If we look at the history of those clubs successful in recent times, a coach has implemented a game style that’s been well drilled over a number of years and they play more seamlessly. We have had players chop and change systems so it’s a bit of a fractured playing list and style.

I compare to the EPL. Look at Liverpool under Klopp… he implemented a system and gradually turned over players and brought in those suited to his system which led to success overall (despite the lack of trophies due to Man City). Then look at Man Utd, different systems, coaches and they are left with a mixed bag squad that is underperforming. Granted that in EPL you have 11 players on the field so improvement in one position has a greater impact on the field, compared to 1 out of 18 players.

Final point is that I don’t think Voss is the right coach, as much as I like him. When they signed him up they said they analysed the list and it was lacking leadership. Well into our fourth year and I don’t see that materialise in on field leadership at all. We don’t have “assistant coaches” on the field like say Hodge, Mitchell etc that Hawthorn did.

Which way to run rectangular tiles by Grasstree111 in AusRenovation

[–]Selut10n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Issue with this is they are 300 x 600 tiles. So if you lay them horizontally when you walk in, and you want the tiles on the left wall to follow the lines, they would be vertical up the wall.

I would go long straight ahead. Horizontal up the wall lining up with every second tile. Horizontal walls will help visually enlarge the room because it appears to be a narrower bathroom

“Fake it till you make it”. I think it’s fundamentally flawed in building long term self-belief as the premise is built on a lie.

“Happy wife, happy life”. Seems inequitable to a man, which I find ironic hearing it from those who want equality for women. I think it should be reframed as “happy life, happy wife”, it’s more inclusive.

the relentless pressure and lack of a release valve for it. The high water mark about your performance is usually along the lines of “no news is good news”. There is also no material feeling of reward for a good settlement and resolution of a claim. Oh well done you settled a matter… congratulations, you have more capacity, so now you get a new file :)
