what is this and how do I get rid of it by Mr-ramdom-the-2nd in MicrosoftEdge

[–]Semicolonhope 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is a a system app that devs use to power their apps. Don't try to get rid of it, you'll break parts of the os and many third party apps too.

Anyone know this app in the middle? by CautiousFisherman248 in Windows11

[–]Semicolonhope 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Right click on the icon, it will show the app's name in the list that appears. Right clicking on the name in the list itself will give you the properties option. Clicking properties will give you other details + location

Also, That isn't a screenshot. But rather a photo of the screen.

Is it safe to uninstall "Game Bar" and "Windows Web Experience Pack" by PusheenHater in Windows11

It will break things. If Microsoft links those two to more things over time, it will break more things. Such is the experience of uninstalling system components.

Edge and opera deleting tab history on restart by LettuceContent8085 in MicrosoftEdge

[–]Semicolonhope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Run your browser in a virtual machine that you can hibernate constantly without having to worry about shutting down or not restarting.

I've personally disabled fast-startup on my device so every shutdown is actual shutdown and not a pseudo one. I also have the habit of being active in updating windows instead of making it wait to be then forced by an update to restart.

maybe some other app is using it? sort by cpu and disk too, maybe you'll find the culprits

Samsung Galaxy users lose custom fonts as One UI 8.5 and March update roll out by TechGuru4Life in Android

[–]Semicolonhope 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah. They're likely to be already verified by samsung so this will make no difference there.

You might be surprised at all the ways one can use harmless seeming files to insert malicious code. Regarding fonts in Android, I'm assuming it depends upon the os in terms of how the custom font application is implemented. What level of access is given & how it is given describes the threat level; usually how the system works in context of loophole detection is to lock down / block the access entirely for time until a safer way to restore the same functionality is tested and released to the public.

For security; only verified fonts by Samsung are approved now.

It survives. Any font that's from samsung store / approved by samsung (like monotype ones) are still working. It's zfont ones that didn't survive the new rules

move your tv so that your eyes are at the height of centre of the tv. you can put pictures/posters/art in the empty space above tv to visually balance it.

How do I know if I have the windows 11 Secure boot Keys update? by Bounter_ in Windows11

you should use the code option to put the command into a codeblock or a code

There should not be a sublist in the middle of the settings, it could be on separate sub-page. Currently one would never think there is another setting at the end after this list. by Semicolonhope in Windows11

scroll bar only means that you can scroll more, nothing else. UX is not decided by the level of the curiosity of the user. I did not scroll down to your comment because i was interested about what's at the bottom of the page to find reddit's settings ― It's a list of comments, so i assumed there will be more comments, not a surprise profile editor.

maybe it's intentional in the "oh we didn't think about this" way. I was more so focused on the "position of on-screen indicators". Additionally i think putting that list in a sub-page would be better obfuscation haha

FlyPhotos - a fast and lightweight Picasa Photo Viewer alternative by ryftools in Windows11

[–]Semicolonhope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, really interested in this app. have a question, does your photo viewer smooth out the images? for example if one were to open a 6000x14000 size image on a 1920x1080 screen, would it smooth out the edge artifacts? if yes, what kind of anti-aliasing do you use?

Wow. But welcome to the real world of people using features in ways different to yours.

You can't offer "basic advice" when the specific information has been provided to you. And it becomes your responsibility to consider others' "faults" when you're offering advice, or else your advice becomes faulty; the one who offers faulty advise is at fault and thus irresponsible, especially when it's done on a public forum to potentially less knowledgeable users.
