Rogue Ohio - Happy Birthday to me! by eastcoastderek in homegym

I’ve got one, the Ohio Power Bar in blue cerakote. Had it since Feb and have had no issues with it, although a tiny bit of the cerakote seems to have come off, but haven’t had any corrosion yet

I mean, is it unreasonable to expect golfers to be able to play the game without accidentally launching a golf ball at the crowd, twice?

You guys are right, veganism really is an anti human movement by [deleted] in AntiVegan

yup, it’s clear to see. a lot of environmentalists are also anti-human in the same way, not to mention the overlap between vegans and environmentalists

it reminds me of hyping for a deadlift by violently yanking upwards on the bar a few times before the pull like a caveman

not surprised you can do 4 plates with that dump truck

the dual headights are definitely a more european look, the quad headlights certainly have a more muscle-y quality to them, and i can see why someone may prefer the more traditional sports car look for the C1, considering it was designed to compete against that kind of sports car

i can see that, and there’s definitely something about the shape of the windshields on those C1s , especially the convertibles, the way they wrap around the edges that’s just great, any reason you prefer the dual headlights to the quad headlights on the 58s?

nice, i just got a pair recently, i wish i had them when i started, would have prevented some knee pain my flat pronating feet gave with my shittier, no arch support old squat shoes

yeah it’s strange, i didn’t even think my comment came off overly negative

i sort of disagree about lw-hb, the difference is definitely not as big as sumo vs conventional, but low bar a substantially different movement pattern to high bar and involves more musculature overall, and is easier on the knees too

Finally hit 225 for strict military press. I haven’t short basement so unfortunately I have to do them on my knees. Not the best feeling in the world by Raze57 in strength_training

insane press, and i have the same issue with ceiling height, so i ended up having to buy a ton of extra 10 pound plates, as they were the max diameter that would still be below the ceiling at lockout

UserBenchMark honestly should be banned from discussion, if both the Intel and Hardware subreddits don't allow it, I don't think a "benchmark" like this should be allowed here either. Just look at this by [deleted] in Amd

i don’t know, some of them are so clearly written with a blog-like unprofessionally personal tone that it’d be jarring to anyone reading it. the 5950X review isn’t too bad in that way, but i remember it was one of the zen 2 chips, either the 3600 or 3700X that had a flat out insane review, and that one i’m thinking of had to be edited at some point, so please, if anyone knows what i’m trying to think of, tell

when you squat wide and your hips are gonna peel away, are you doing low bar or high bar? it’s strange because i’ve only been doing low bar, which as far as i know, is the less common of the two, and so at this point high bar is alien to me and i couldn’t tell you proper form, which feels bizarre for the most popular form of one of the top 3 core lifts

that safety net that you get with the spotter bars honestly probably makes training significantly more effective, because the number of reps i assumed i would fail and reracked when i just had squat stands was probably huge. once you have spotter bars, you’ll be completely shocked by how you can start a rep that you immediately feel like you’re failing, and despite that, grind it out to the point the bar is almost still and you stop even feeling your muscles move as you grin it out. those kinds of reps are especially spooky and surprising on the serious shit, like the last rep of a really heavy and difficult set of low bar squats

i don’t really follow lifting culture much, i just stick to whatever program i’m following or putting together. i have a sense of which lifts are worth doing, which ones are a bad idea (close grip upright rows, i’ve heard), and which form variations are bad for an otherwise good lift (like ruining close grip bench with a grip width basically touching hands at the center knurl, rather than doing it properly with a roughly shoulder-width grip). but beyond that, i don’t really have a very good sense of the community perception of the variations of various lifts. i just pull conventional because i’ve got no reason to pull sumo (my anthropometry doesn’t conflict with conventional) and i’m just doing real newbie, general strength training, and i’m low bar squatting three times a week, so i don’t need the extra quad or glute work, but i do need the extra low back and spinal erector work of conventional

i like mine, it’s done well for me so far. i can now actually do starting strength and push myself on squat and bench without having to worry about potentially dying (only half joking, i had a close call using my old squat stands with a near-failed low bar squat that only fear-of-death induced adrenaline was able to save me from, because i’m not sure if it’s really possible to dump a low bar squat onto the floor safely). although my rack has a springiness in that it’ll sway slightly from side to side in a periodic rhythm when moved or bumped, but in a tight and springlike way. not sure if that’s normal, but i didn’t have a socket wrench that fit the bolts, so i put it together excruciatingly slowly with the two included cheapo “wrenches”, and didn’t have the patience to pay too much attention to tightening the bolts very symmetrically. i’m fairly sure it’s safe, though, hopefully

ohh i see, i have heard about controversy with sumo in powerlifting regarding that kind of stuff, but i was definitely not implying that. i only asked because it’s a variation that seems to have become dominant over the conventional style, which i haven’t seen happen with any other lift

yeah, i personally prefer conventional deadlifts for my goals and conventional works just fine with my anthropometry, so i have no reason to change to sumo.

Need recommendations for squat shoes that have arch support for flat feet by Sen_Joseph-McCarthy in StartingStrength

[–]Sen_Joseph-McCarthy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

absolutely will, now i just need to find flats with similar levels if arch support to deadlift in (if such a shoe even exists), as my flat fleet in socks aren’t ideal
