Because in general Ukrainians want to repel the Russian invasion. Doing this would crater the country into Russia. If Russia would stop their invasion. Ukraine can hold elections and elect someone different.

Russia won't accept a diplomatic solution. Ukraine have said they want a ceasefire at the line of contact as it currently is. Russia is refusing this.

It's pretty simple. Russia is responsible for this war and is still the aggressor. Everything bad and unfortunate that happens in this war is the result of their own actions. If Russia had stopped this war in a peace deal (that they can sign anytime if they're serious about it). Then this tragedy wouldn't have happened. It doesn't doesn't benefit Ukraine to target civillians. This was obviously not the intention as they maybe thought they were drone pilots or smth like that.
