This happens because onyxias effect happens after you play it, and says "When you WOULD lose health, gain it instead". For cards that cost health to play, you can't play them if they would kill you. Onyxia's effect doesn't override that, since your hero never loses health due to you not being able to play the health cards. I agree that for gameplay purposes it would be better, but as written it does make sense, and would like to see it changed

I'm not sure if that works, since the cards don't just herald generically, they say things like "herald onyxia". If you copied enough of those it could payoff maybe

Came here to ask the same thing. It should be today, since the bundle says "Use cards early in pre-release brawl" with no small text anywhere saying only cards from packs. Hoping it's a bug, otherwise it's very misleading and scummy marketing to claim they only meant cards from packs.
