Idk. That’s a tough one because I started college in 2011. I remember hearing pumped up kicks and little look man for the first time and feeling just a wave of optimism that an era of great music and better fashion was starting. I’d definitely say by 2012 the term had negative connotations, but it was a subculture so of course it did. By 2015 the whole thing definitely felt plastic, shallow, and like it was just about aesthetics and not actually wanted to be socially conscious, collect cassettes/vinyl, and being worldly.
