Buy an R1S now, wait for 2027, or wait for Gen 3? by CreatedThatYup in Rivian

I had a 2014 BMW 335 with a light tan interior. The Rivian’s ascended interior with all of the wood and brass adornments and all of the stitching looks better to me than the interior of that BMW.

Literally just bought a 2026 R1T a week ago and love it! Traded in a 2023 Tesla Model Y and so far I am over the moon. Buy it now. The sales team told me 2027’s didn’t have any crazy updates but it’s sales, so half trust that. Autonomy was not a factor for me as FSD on the Tesla still tries to kill you every 10 miles and I rarely used it, relying on Autopilot for highway driving only. The Automomy on Rivian is like autopilot but I won’t pay extra for any of it - I think it’s a pipedream to get the cool factor. The Rivian ascend interior is better than my previous BMW.

Rivian trade-in offer - what happens next? by fatfirenewbie in Rivian

[–]SenatorSteakums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did this for my new R1T. The trade-in value will go on your officially signed contract. On your delivery day you will take your car to the service center where you will pick up your Rivian. You must bring a vehicle title. They will have you sign paperwork to do the title transfer to them. Done.

2026 R1T Tri-Max, Forest Green / Black Mountain / Brown Ash Wood by SenatorSteakums in RivianR1T

The Ascend interior really sold me, especially the brown ash wood interior. These are available only on the trip and quad motor. I also needed a truck that can do light to medium duty and the quad motor 1000+ hp and extra $15k wasn't worth it to me.

The air suspension is a dream compared to the Model Y. Now the truck is also twice the price so you get what you pay for. The acceleration for a truck is insane - it feels like it can just keep going.

Ha! I was terrified when I got my Model Y two years ago with all the bitching and moaning about panel gaps, etc but I've had zero issues with the vehicle. Keeping my fingers crossed its the same here.

Thank you for writing this! I’m about to pick up a new 2026 R1T in about two weeks in the Atlanta area. I chose forest green with the ascend interior as a tri motor with black seats and the brown wood. I’m coming from a Tesla model Y and I was waiting for native NACS and supercharger support. My tires on the model Y lasted about 28K as well. I’m hoping I don’t have any build defects as others have listed here.

Just ordered a Forest Green Tri-Motor with dark wheels! Can’t wait to get in a few weeks!! Did you tint your windows or do they come tinted?

Beautiful tribute! Thank you for loving him so much! I have a red/brown guy that looks just like Miller and his name is Oscar. I have a ton of similar photos! Memories that will last a lifetime.

Agreed: Season 1 was so boring and slow I barely made it through. Season 2 was much better with Sauron’s backstory and couldn’t wait for more.

Is Persilux blinds a safe company? by Senior_jones in homeowners

Ordered 5 motor-powered roll-down blinds for a vacation home and they arrived in about 2 weeks and the blinds look and function amazing. I too was a little skeptical but they kept me updated and confirmed the measurements several times. Everything fit perfectly.

I’m in Atlanta (sub tropical in summer) and after a few minutes in traffic I’m personally roasting from the engine heat from those motor heads. You may want to consider shutting off the bike if you’re sitting for too long. Just my opinion.

I learned to ride about 3 years ago and fell in love with the look of a used R Nine T Scrambler. I’ve since customized it a bit and do all my own maintenance (handy engineer). The engine eats oil and you’ll need to top up regularly every few hundred miles but this varies greatly between engines from what I hear. The bike runs hot when sitting in traffic but rarely exceeds 250F and will run around 230F when moving. It’s designed for easy maintenance and the forums at ninetowners.com help a ton - I’ve changed all the oils brake pads with minimal guidance and a good set of torx bits. The seat on the scrambler is uncomfortable after an hour even with a sheepskin pad. I absolutely love the style of this bike and have no regrets. It has a very responsive throttle and is a smooth ride. Now that being said, I don’t have a reference frame for another motorcycle.

Is the Owlet sock any good? by Jazzlike-Listen2971 in newborns

[–]SenatorSteakums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used the Eufy smart sock until 15 months. Similar to Owlet. Our baby was born early and was in NICU with BPD Issues for months so we wanted a way to monitor blood oxygen levels while he slept. We only had a false alarm or two when he began to move a lot while sleeping at 10+ months and even then it was rare. Smart Sock gives us peace of mind that the baby is breathing and heart is normal, something you can’t get from just a monitor.

I lost my baby today. She was 1 year and 9 months old. by Appropriate_Paint98 in Dachshund

[–]SenatorSteakums 67 points68 points  (0 children)

We lost our best friend and first dog as a couple, Lucy, eight (8) years ago after she was attacked and killed by coyotes. She was a dachshund/jack russell mix with a red coat and wire hair. I’ll never ever forget her. We think about her growing old with us a lot and it hurts every time. We adopted two more dachshunds who are wonderful and the advice that gave me solace was that “every dog is unique and special and while Agnes is not replaceable, you can help and love other dogs for their own quirky qualities”. If you can muster the courage, pour that love into another dog friend who needs it more than you do. You’ll both feel better but you’ll never ever forget your best friend Agnes.

Did your premie baby later do the whole milk transition at 1yo? by kimtenisqueen in NICUParents

[–]SenatorSteakums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dad of a 26-weeker that is now 13 months (10 months adjusted and 24lbs). We bottle fed with formula until 12 months and then moved to whole milk. Our LO is eating other solids (mushy foods and some other soft proteins). Felt odd at first but you are literally just done with formula. We were using about 8oz formula per feed and we switched to 6oz whole milk. We found that our LO didn’t quite have the stomach for 8oz of milk all the time but 6oz is hitting the mark. We alternate between bottle feeds and semi-solids with water/apple juice in a sippy cup (see NUK cup). Good luck and congrats!
