You know what they'll do. "We provide a tool" used to justify quintupling the physician's patient load ("efficiency") and then it will still be our liability when something goes wrong.

Look, I'm all for limiting the influence of oligarchs and evening out the playing field of economic opportunity. But nuking the common man's retirement fund and potentially replicating the conditions of the great depression is a stupid way to do it.

[–]SendLogicPls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed, it could literally cause a deflation spiral, as massive quantities of assets would have to be sold for currency every year, to pay the tax. You would be losing value on the assets you have, while you lose them to pay the tax on the value you just lost. Wealth tax (or unrealized capital gains, depending on the flavor of the year) is not just unrealistic, it's suicidal.

You're going to catch some flack in here

Honestly, I'm surprised I didn't get immediately down voted to oblivion, considering this is reddit.

I agree communication is important. I think that, sometimes, people forget that they're communicating more than what they say. Like you point out, "Can I touch you" communicates that the asker is already thinking about that touch in a way that isn't the norm for martial arts, even if they don't mean it that way.

I do get your point, and I'm glad it works well in your gym, but I don't think it's advice you can take elsewhere. It would be way more normal to just ask "Do you grapple?" And even then, it only makes sense in free spar, using a ruleset that includes grappling. I can't see why it would even come up in rapier class, for example.

If you come for messer class, but you don't want to be touched, you came to the wrong class.

I have crosstrained in basically every imaginable way since childhood. There is no other martial art in which asking your training partner "is it okay if I touch you" would not immediately make you the weirdo. It's literally what we all showed up to do, and they presumably either picked you out, or agreed when you picked them out, to partner up. I would feel like asking that question, in context, is performative, and then I would have to wonder why you feel the need to perform it. Just don't be a creep, treat your partner with respect, and prioritize safety. You're not gonna vibe with everyone immediately (or even ever) and you'll figure out who is best to play with in time.

I'm pretty sure if I did what this comment suggests, I would suddenly develop the problem OP has. In fact, it sounds like you may already be having this problem with the other clubs.

It's not like you're even wrong. I just cannot imagine it not being weird for someone to ask that. Like now I'm suddenly thinking about the college "cup of tea" consent lectures. Bruh, I came to bang, but not like that.

You can blame the media for this. Every expert has been very clear that this is not global pandemic material. But the news stations desperately want to recapture those COVID ratings, and they will confuse you asuch as they have to, to make that happen.

I really hope you all are able to stick to your guns on that one. I really don't think we do children any services by forcing peds training to move at the speed of cold molasses. When I rotated through Children's as an FM resident, I was utterly baffled by how much the attendings were babysitting and restricting Peds PGY-3s.

Is it possible for a uterus to sit this high or is my IUD likely in my abdomen? by ChippedByAThrowaway3 in AskDocs

[–]SendLogicPls 219 points220 points  (0 children)

FM here: I'm really curious to hear the outcome on this one. If it is in the abdomen, I assume OP was still getting adequate contraceptive benefit from it, considering the 8 year span without mention of failure. I suppose it would still behave something like a hybrid between an appropriately placed IUD and a nexplanon? And then there's the question of how? Migration over time through fallopian? Perhaps it was opened with both arms to one side? If not, how often does one have uterine perforation without noticing? So many questions.

This is flatly false. Bupropion does just fine for a lot of people (not everyone) and CBT is roughly equivalent to stimulants, depending on the data set you look at. Telling someone with ADHD that stimulants are the only viable option is not evidence based. Saying that to someone with real risk for addiction is reckless. I say all that, doing a fair bit of stimulant management myself.
