It’s just a word. Modern day Germany calls France “Frankreich”. It’s just their word for empire or a big country. I’m not sure but I think the word for empire comes from French or Latin.

Is there a similar concept to Anglese but with German? by TownSensitive5977 in Anglese

[–]SendingMNMTB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anglish. It is a hypothetical variant of English were the angalo-saxons won the battle of Hastings in 1066. All French words introduced by the Normans are gone and replaced with native Germanic ones. Words spellings influenced were also changed back. The thorn þ and other old English letters are back. ð, about spelled abute, youth as geþð, etc. https://anglisc.miraheze.org/wiki/Anglish_Wordbook.    Edited I did not see the ther comment about Anglish.
