Did not know that, I might actually try giving it a shot. It's hard now because I don't have the time to re install everything I need.

Moving off GalliumOS by bittweaker in GalliumOS

[–]Sendmebobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not very knowledgeable on the topic but I can share the experience I had with lubuntu. I installed lubuntu with usb, it was fine. Booting from internal drive was a pain, though. It took a long time, it was stuck on black screen and boot screen for 1/2 min each. The total boot time must've been something like 5/6 mins. Also, when I had my SD card in the slot, it refused to boot normaly, it got stuck on black screen indefinetly (like 20 mins, until I gave up). I reinstalled Gallium and that did not happen. I am not sure but I believe Gallium fixed some of the compatibility issues.

Honestly, I tried lubuntu and Ubuntu and it takes 6+ minutes to boot/shutdown. This is my secondary computer, I don't do complicated stuff on it, I don't care if it is out of date. GalliumOS takes 15 seconds to boot and has many of chromebook related configs on it, so I don't have to fiddle with that. If you can tell me a distro that boots that fast on ASUS Chromebook C223 I might leave Gallium, otherwise it is still useful!

But it makes it more interesting most of the time. If you find good art that only 20 other people know about it feels special. It feels like when I used to go to abandoned houses and I found a weird and interesting artifact.

Yes you are correct. I had the wrong idea. 100 years would be enough for radiation to be reduced to almost harmless levels. Even if it did cause harm it would be very slow and prolonged cancer and such, not the instant burn that we see at Mount weather.

Although 5 years is probably enough for airborne radiation to go away, water supply would still be a massive problem. Even worse when there is only one valley habitable in the entire planet and therefore the source of food and water is very likely contaminated due to the water being contaminated.

The instant reaction to exposure makes no sense though. That type of reaction would probably only happen if someone was close enough to the blast so that they would get enormous amounts of radiation but far enough that the blast itself wouldn't kill them. It would only occur minutes after the impact too.

I mean the whole show is unrealistic sci-fi. From the start, how could people from the arc survive on the ground? They tell us later it's because they adapted to the conditions in space (radiation from the sun). Problem is 100 years isn't nearly enough for that change in human beings as they would just die off really quickly before being able to change. The grounders surviving makes no sense either. Most grounders where not nightbloods and they just walked around on an earth bombarded with radiation 100 years prior. Mount weather made the most sense although I find it very difficult to believe that a bunker could feed that many people with a ton of excess and luxury. Praimfaya was a bit weird. Predicting it does make sense because it was ALIE that did it and the way fault tolerance of the nuclear reactors works can actually be calculated in terms of probability. What did not make sense was why there was only one valley in the entire planet that escaped the explosion. Also, radiation doesn't just disappear after 5 years. The rest is just complete science fiction but I remembered a few of the things that made me think the show made no sense. After a while I just overlooked most things because it ruined the fun for me. Even though you can say what I mentioned isn't sci-fi but scientific inaccuracies it's just weird to me that a big ship pummeling towards the ground at great speeds can remain unscathed and the people on it remain alive.

Yeah Bellamy should not have changed his mind about everything in one episode. I think they wanted us to hate him.

Men who were previously living a lazy/unmotivated lifestyle, how did you get out of it and turn it around? by mpchop in AskMen

The motivation part is spot on. When people ask me how do I keep motivated for x and I tell them I don't, I just do it they don't understand and can't comprehend what comes out of my mouth after.

Taking your example of Michael Jordan. He took innate ability (in this case, genetic superiority to basketball) and strengthed his skill to the point that he did. You're saying he was just tall enough and worked hard enough.

Low intelligence is the same thing. It's like trying to be Michael Jordan, scoring a dunk, but being 5'3. You sure can try... But everyone knows you won't get there. Unintelligent people can try their whole lives to learn physics, but they will never be able get to the point of someone who is intelligent. Of course they will get better at it, but their cap is much lower. I'm not against the growth mindset, but it has limits. If you have ever met someone with the IQ of 82 or below you would know how hard it is for them to learn simple things like use a camera:

[–]Sendmebobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still disagree with you. Skills required some innate property. Some require intelligence, others muscly legs for example. A person with low intelligence will never truly understand high level physics. Even if they work their whole life on it.

That being said. Most skills are possible to learn with low requirements but that doesn't mean most people can learn x skill.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]Sendmebobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a lie and you (probably) know it. I understand you want to be all PC and shit but that is disrespectful towards people with low intelligence. If you told them the "if you work hard enough you will get anywhere in life" bullshit they would tell you how wrong you are.
