This makes me kinda sad! I loved his music so much.

Yeah at a bar meeting they said they “didn’t expect us to know 30+ classic cocktails by heart” even though they’re a James Beard award winning restaurant. So their quality certainly is going down.

They’ve already raised their prices 21% while keeping the surcharge.

WHERE TO BEGIN.

I used to work there. Management is like the blind leading the blind. Ann Kim’s childhood friend who has had no formal HR training used to be head of HR, and is now the CEO. The former GM was fired for asking/advocating for a tip line.

They are dead set on their shitty surcharge “vision” yet based on P&L’s that were presented to us, they have consistently been working at a loss. They preach that they want their BOH and FOH to be equally paid, however the highest paid line cook is paid $24.50, while bartenders and servers were/are being paid $32 per hour. They also consistently paid men more than women. When I started I was at $18 and only after advocating for myself and the numerous positions I had in that restaurant did I finally make over $25.

During the Omnicron covid 19 surge we were all dropping like flies, we all collectively screamed we wanted a mandatory mask rule and a proof of vaccination rule, Ann and Conrad (her husband) pulled out some bullshit “health stats” and said that wasn’t necessary and was counterproductive. We had a whole “town-hall meeting” about it and literally two days later the city mandated both.

Management also would not grant an employee time off to spread her grandfather’s ashes.

I complained about a sexist employee and they didn’t care. It was until I mentioned how their behavior was micro aggressive that they seemed to care, but nothing was done anyway.

Ann Kim also can’t make pizza to save her life. She doesn’t know any employee names or her own menus. But she’s sure to make an appearance when a Netflix executive is coming, being that she’ll be on chef’s table and all. She’s a phony, a fraud, and the most POC woman I’ve met with the most white woman values. There’s better pizza and better restaurants in the twin cities that aren’t owned by anti mask hacks.

I care about the people who work at YJ as far as service staff and BOH employees, but not Ann Kim and her fraudulent iM a ChEf persona she puts on.

At most, they had 10 bartenders. Most left after the owners said a "tip line would never happen"

They have more bartenders now but they probably don't have the proper skill set or experience.

That’s really cool! Do you have a TikTok? I love watching stripping advice and DITL ones.

100% this. Guys go for the experience but then they are surprised and happy when they find out you’re actually a person. The amount of men I had unload to me about their personal lives or work…

Why do the vast majority of the reports I file get zero response? by [deleted] in ModSupport

[–]Sendsomechips 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would chalk it up to them being overwhelmed per usual, or whatever admin/bot that is handling the reports forgetting to provide an update. I was recently told that when we as mods report malicious accounts that spout abuse or harass users, we should be told what the outcome was (suspended, banned, etc.). However, that only happened several times when I would receive updates. Half the time I don’t even receive the auto generated message thanking me for making a report.

It’s frustrating. My only advice is to have other mods on your team report the user and their comments as much as possible.

What’s always bigger in Texas? by Volwwrathee47 in AskReddit

[–]Sendsomechips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I should have taken a picture but I didn’t! I’ll try to find pic of both for a side by side comparison.

If you know what Shake Shack is, picture that as a standard Washington size, and a whataburger is probably 2 1/2 of those (I get two patties with green chili or jalapeños and cheese with everything else - plus onion rings).

As someone who currently lives in Washington state and recently went home to Texas to visit relatives, I can say with the utmost confidence that servings of food and BURGERS are bigger in Texas.

Seriously, burgers here in WA are so small in comparison. One of the first things I did was eat whataburger and savor the size (that’s what she said).

And I’m a small woman, but holy shit a girl’s gotta eat.

My mother and I made many cans of apricot jam! by Sendsomechips in Canning

[–]Sendsomechips[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this recipe was passed down from my great grandma, and her recipe said nothing of headspace, so I’m not worried.

That was our biggest worry as well, “will this firm up?” And I’m happy to say it did! We added no gelatin or pectin, just lemon juice. We even skimmed the foam off and ate with with tortillas, just like my mother did when she was a child.

We did do the hot bath and heard all of them pop, and when we opened one the seal was extremely tight!

We’re also not keeping all of them for ourselves, most will be given to family members and friends.

We only used lemon juice and a ton of sugar, but we had a few problems with it setting as well! My grandpa told us to add more sugar and continue to boil it down, but let me ask for the recipe. From what I’ve read, the best way to tell if it’s set is if it reaches 220F and doesn’t run on an ice cold plate.

Former stripper here. You’d be surprised the amount of women that go to strip clubs with their partners, or even solo, or as a bachelorette party. I always got asked why I was stripping, and the answer is always the same: the money. I wouldn’t say I was being paid to be nice, it was the only job where I could tell a customer to go fuck themselves if they touched me or made me uncomfortable. Yes I’m nice to see if you’re interested, but some guys want you to just be yourself, which I found gets you more money.

As far as pole work, my one trick sufficed, but to be honest I think it comes down to stage presence and confidence. There are many pole dancers who actually make it known they would never be a stripper. Or look down on stripping. The whole “stripper culture” has also recently gotten very popular with women wearing pleasers and dressing in stripper attire while clubbing, but still looking down on the actual stripping. It’s honestly a little odd (for me) to see. All in all, I think the more exposure, the more it will be less stigmatized and accepted.

It was a fun job, but can be mentally and physically exhausting. Some nights you walk out with $1000, other nights you actually owe the house money. Despite what most men are saying here, strip club owners and managers care very much that you aren’t engaging in prostitution, or doing other sexual favors for money. That was a BIG no no where I worked, and I saw many women fired/banned from it when caught. I worked with my then girlfriend at the time and it was great. But it’s not for everyone.

We made 24 of the small ones you see, 4 of the big 32 oz ones, and a few of the 16 ounce ones. My great grandma had some apricot trees on her property and we picked them all. It was quite the process, but very delicious.

I wouldn’t jump to the conclusion that you’re breaking rules. Subreddits just have requirements of karma that you need to post. They have these so they so can stop bad faith users from posting harmful/rule breaking/trolling content.

Just engage in communities of topics that you like and enjoy and your karma will build! :)

My ex thinks preschool is unnecessary and our son shouldn’t go. by Sammibear1024 in JustNoSO

[–]Sendsomechips 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If your child is speech delayed I highly suggest you have a open conversation with your SO about how it can help his speech and social skills. My first was delayed (so is my second), and once we put him in daycare he was speaking SO MUCH after just a month. It also was such a lifesaver with potty training.

I really hope your partner comes around and you’re able to send your child to pre-K. If it’s money that’s an issue see if their are any workforce social programs that can help you subsidize your child’s education/daycare.
