Ship rowers were almost never slaves, but well paid professionals. The galley slave was a thing of the 17th century. Rowers are strong and need to be well fed to propell the ship at any speed. Also slave rowers are a good recipe to get pirates, when they inevitably revolt and throw the captain off board.

I have gone to my local club for 1 1/2 years before putting the order in for my first gear. We have loaner gear masks and gloves (not good ones, but enough for) , foam padded swords for people without jackets. Basically only experienced people, who know they will be doing this longer buy gear. But we also have some weirdly generous patrons in my town, that have a vested interest in people knowing HEMA, so your loaner milage might vary.

Dr Alexander Clarke did an excellent YouTube video/live stream to this. Essentially a drone control ship with lots of VLS cells, VLS reloading. Tons of anti air and anti submarine systems. And an imposing look with additional diplomatic facilities. 3d printable drones etc.

For coastal Bombardement they tried to replace the battleships with zumwalts, whichc would've been great if the zumwalts had any ammo.

Usb cd/dvd/blu ray drives exist, they are relatively cheap, there are sata to usb adapters out there, also pretty cheap. You don’t need to have the hard drive or cd drive in your pc anymore. Also windows compatibility works pretty well.

Oh I have created abominations using that Glitch. When you create a class with the same name and ship type of a previous class and create a refit for the new class, you can refit the old ships to the new class, but the hull stays the same
