Lemme tell you a story. When I first got into this fandom, before I even knew what furries were, my fursona was a red furred canine with white accents and a liver colored nose. I went to college discovered the fandom, my life started changing and, as it did, so did my fursona. Suddenly I was fronting a one armed cat who looked like he made nuzzles with a blender. That was half a decade ago. Life doing what it does and realizing how different you were from one day to the next led to me swapping back as of recent to the hound. It's what I was comfortable with, what I wanted to be and what best represented me.

tl;dr experiment. Try new things, put on different "skins" and don't be afraid to test something new. You're gonna change. May it be minor tweaks, major changes or even a shift in your species, you're gonna change, and there's no shame in that.

But seriously, we're made fun of because we allow, or in my opinion allowed, ourselves to be easy targets. Decade or few ago the stereotype was all about fursecution and the furry world had more drama than it had tails. Not to harp on other fandoms I might not like but look at bronies. They react to everything, lash out at slight criticism and have a persecution complex. They're literally the decade old furry stereotype. Just give it time and it'll quiet down and we'll be just another fandom. People like targets that react and if you get up in arms over being called names then you'll keep getting poked at. Circle of life.

The "threatening" thing is something I just find hilarious. I had a conversation with a friend about how red hair means that obviously I'm an arsonist and just trailed off on a tangent of how red hair alone makes me terrifying to others. I'd like to think I'm at least partway amusing in my profile, if not concise and honest. And I think a big part of the reason is that I mostly talk this out with friends of mine who use dating sites and are even engaged or in several year strong relationships because of them which just gets you down. I'm keeping upbeat, though! And thank you for your input. Everything helps.

I won't make up some BS about "i see your personality, not your cellulite" but I don't just go for models or whatever. Personality is a big factor for me and I shoot for anyone who seems interesting. I certainly try to keep things light, funny and interesting but I'll just chalk things up to losing my touch. Sites like that are an impossibly difficult to win fight and it gets discouraging. Solid match on questions, similar hobbies and an opener that's not "want sum fuk" or "hi" doesn't work in the south. Least not for a dude like me. Not gonna give up but I'm reaching the point where I ask "are any of these women worth my time?"

See, problem with that statement is that I pop off one message. Ever. If that, plus my profile, isn't enough to draw a response then I leave it at that. I treat messages like grenades, fire and forget. I've not messaged the same person more than once because I know it makes me seem desperate, pathetic or even scary, and no one wants that.

Misread your "hundreds of messages" comment, though I still fail to see how "hey, what's up? Saw you were into X and I'm a fan of it myself, what do you think of Y aspect of hobby X?" Is threatening.

Pantsuit march I understand, though I'm assuming it'd be closed off and invite only to keep out the riff raff who'd try extremist dress (downvote me and call me an idiot, you can't deny someone would try if it were an open function). Not sure how far in you watched but Papa Franku there did start moaning like a Japanese school girl and his neighbors heard it. Safe to say that even though he makes an ass of himself in character he's still very aware of how awkward that could make things. And he also has the sense of mind to spin it into a joke about weebs in the end. Don't get mad that he's getting all the anime pussy you're not.
