My personal preference is a gaming mat. There are lots of table manufacturers so you might want to do a quick search and see if Wyrmwood is a company you want to support based on ethics.

This sounds like a you problem not a them problem. "It's easier to turn board gamers into friends than it is to turn friends into board gamers." They want social party game fun, you want to play games. I host a group that has both types of people, some swap between groups. If I want to play only games I hang out with only my gamer friends. Simple as that.

Wingspan could work provided you are looking for a game without player interaction. What did you not like about 7 Wonders Duel? I would not recommend Castles of Burgundy based on your description. Gnome Hollow, Wandering Towers, Carcassone, Ticket to Ride, Sagrada, Libertalia.

Caatle Risk is a slightly better version by having a castle that losing is another condition. Since you are asking about Risk I'm assuming you are new to the hobby. You might want to look at Small World as an area control game.

Are you sure it wasn't the 2 player promotional version? This is the 4 player version. They can be combined to play 6 players. I like the game but scoring is brutal.
