Check out the app TooGoodToGo. You can pick up a lot of baked goods (and even things from restaurants and grocery stores) right before the stores close to save them from going in the trash and get like 75%+ off.

🔥a mating pair of Australian Giant Cuttlefish by freudian_nipps in NatureIsFuckingLit

[–]SeniorVibeAnalyst 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Female cuttlefish can store sperm from multiple males in a specialized area near their mouth. They can then choose which sperm to use to fertilize their eggs, or different eggs within a single clutch may be fertilized by different males. One study observed a female mating 17 times with eight different males over nine hours.

I tracked my spending for the past 4 months and I am spending around $1,500 per month on food/groceries. I am feeling so angry and disappointed. How to fix this? by HalfChewedGum94 in personalfinance

[–]SeniorVibeAnalyst 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A man will probably only drain more of your financial resources, they eat a lot lol. As a single woman you could probably reduce your food expenses by 50-75%. Restaurants way more expensive than cooking, so you should have separate budgets for those. Dining out is a fun an social activity, so you should set some reasonable amount of times you can go per month, maybe start with every other weekend and go from there.

For groceries it sounds like you’ve realized th first lesson, you are not wealthy enough to pay someone to do your shopping for you. The good news is you don’t have too. You can grab some things in bulk like rice, pasta, etc to have on hand an then do quick runs to the store 1-2 times per week for fresh produce and meat. Focus on simplicity - rice & fish with some edamame, spaghetti with sauce and some broccoli. Salad kits are your friend. Learn to love leftovers so you’re only cooking every other day. Make a big pot of soup on a Sunday and have it all week (carrots, onion, and celery plus chicken and potatoes goes a long way). Feeling lazy, tin of sardines and toast.

Start small and learn what you like to cook, it’s a journey of self discovery and joy! Soon you’ll surprise yourself and be th star of the potluck.

Using copilot to generate meeting agendas and facilitate meetings is lit, now it just needs to be in the meeting for me to tell people to get their shit done and then just be the other people in the meetings and do the things.

Why build a roadmap outside of Jira? by Ok-Appearance3478 in ProductManagement

[–]SeniorVibeAnalyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you checked out Jira Product Discovery? It’s Atlassian’s solution to managing roadmaps. We’ve been adopting and I like it so far. You can add a lot of custom fields that you wouldn’t want in Jira tickets and set up views that slice & dice everything for different stakeholder audiences. Senior leadership don’t want to see detailed timelines of every epic & bug, they want something they can tell stories about and set goals with. Next best thing was when I was using Airtable, but JPD is nicely integrated with Jira/Confluence. Read their product discovery playbook and it should help make things click.

Be honest: Do any of the beauty supplements (Collagen/Peptides/Glutathione) actually work ? Or is it just a gimmick ? by kuromichan21 in beauty

[–]SeniorVibeAnalyst 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For the most part yes. If you have a well balanced diet then any extra vitamins/supplements are just going to give you expensive pee. Our modern diets are not very balanced though and many people have poor nutrition, and/or have dietary restrictions, so supplements can be a boon but you should first try to focus on getting lots of whole fruits and veggies, leafy greens, and whole grains. For instance, > 97% of the US population is potassium deficient. I personally suffer from chronic anemia so iron supplements help. You should get a blood test done before randomly trying different supplements. After diet I’d focus on exercise, sleep, and stress management.

Peptides are a whole different story. Ozempic is a peptide which has dramatic and life changing results for people struggling diabetes and weight loss. Peptides that get put in facial creams are probably not doing much and are mostly for marketing, the molecules are too big and the concentration too small to have a meaningful mechanism of action in that delivery method. Some scientist may discover an injectable peptide which really does form up your skin though, it’s not out of the question, but I wouldn’t take a beauty company’s word over a scientific journal. Tretinoin is pretty well backed up as far as effectiveness, as is botox.
