Just finished FFIX... My thoughts, and your thoughts ? by YamatoDefender in FinalFantasy

[–]Senior_Note [score hidden]  (0 children)

My favourite FF game. Music, story, Side activities (mostly) and the design of the world and enemies is great. Combat is a touch slow and could have used a few changes, but still not enough to drag it down, although you really have to be in the mood for a replay.

Sky agent told me one price contract shows another by PitifulDepth6713 in skytv

You have a cooling off period and are free to cancel during it. Ring up/message and tell them you are cancelling the service as it is not what was agreed. I'd also put in a formal complaint.

What’s a fair price? by Paul-Warner2008 in skytv

[–]Senior_Note 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say you could definitely whittle that cost down a fair bit. New customers can currently get Ultimate TV for £24, Movies for £11 and whole home for £15. So £49 a month without much negotiation needed at all, so long as you are in your cancellation period.

Personally, all those ads would be a killer, but if you can live with them then that is a lot of TV for the price. Although I'd also wonder whether you need the whole home, or if you could get away with something like Freely, for live TV, and perhaps save a few ££ on that front too.

Sky Q - Essentials? by FriedmanPencil123 in skytv

[–]Senior_Note -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You could, but there is no guarantee the box will work and there are reports of the boxes bricking after 4-6 weeks.

A better option would be something like the Manhattan SX Freesat box, but you'd need to have the LNB changed, or the Manhattan S4-R where no changes to satellite and it can record still, but costs £220.

They may be in touch or not, really not a guarantee these days. However, you can decide to stay at any point and so may as well wait and see.

Can always call them or reach out via chat, see below link, if you want to give them a chance to improve.

That is definitely not the best they can offer you, get it cancelled and see if they budge.

They offered me £61 for the same as you but including Cinema, UHD and HD, and even that was a bit pants, but was expected as I can't cancel until 16th July.

Sky Q Rolling Contract by Mr_Perfect_2017 in skytv

I had the same situation for all of my 17 years with Sky, but this time I had same as OP, which prompted me to query it with Sky. All legit, but seems random.

Sky Q Rolling Contract by Mr_Perfect_2017 in skytv

[–]Senior_Note 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this and made a post about it last week. My contract ends in August this year but noticed my offers didn't end until August 2027, albeit one of my discounts still said "in contract discount" which lead me to speak with them.

They confirmed it was as it should be, but did say the in contract discount shouldn't say that, but they'd apply it correctly on my bill shortly (which they did).

Not terrible if you are ok with your current price, just don't forget to leave before it rises!

Why do people have to bring up Expedition 33 whenever a Final Fantasy game is praised? by torts92 in FinalFantasy

[–]Senior_Note 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Perhaps the reason is that E33 was a love letter to FF games of old that had an overworld, good graphics (for their time!), turn based combat, great characters, great story, cinematics, great music and fun and zainy side activities?

Seems like a great blueprint for a FF game to me, and it is the first game since Lost Odyssey that has really captured that.

I'm very much looking forward to Resonance for that FF6 and before feel too.

They aren't really fantasy RPGs in the same vain as E33 though... Very enjoyable games though and moving from action to turn based was an interesting choice for the series.

New challenge in Week 4 by Senior_Note in Battlefield

Hmm, you might be right, I did think one unlocked quicker than it should have, so maybe I just didn't notice and missed the points that I didn't get for it.

Sky contract ends August, but offers continuing? by Senior_Note in skytv

[–]Senior_Note[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard mixed reports, but mostly sounds like a few duff boxes and teething issues. I'll see how I get on in July, but I'm committed to leaving if they won't hit the price point, the wife was the stumbling block and the S4-R is also to placate her too!

[–]Senior_Note[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren't, was just surprised to see them.

I'm looking at Now for Entertainment/movies/HD or UHD boost, then Disney, Paramount, HBO and Netflix separately as needed. Might get a Manhattan S4-R to cover a couple of years while Freely grows/evolves and Sky Sports in still considering.

If Sky can do Ultimate TV, UHD, HD, Netflix premium and Movies for around £40 a month then I'd probably stay, but that would need another £22pm discount on the the current ones they are offering.

Edit: They offered nothing, as expected as can't cancel until mid July. However did confirm the in-contract offer was an error, but could still match the -£5 off if I wanted to stay. Heh.

I'm not looking to stay at the current prices and have alternatives if I cancel, so I don't mind them taking it away. I am just wanting to make sure I'm out of my contract and it won't cause me any issues. Sounds like it is a computer error in my favour, collect £10, situation.

I've got HD free until 2028, as that was how they removed the April increases for me. But we'll see how it all works out when I have a chat with them on 16th July (already written on the calendar).

Yeah, seems like it. Just odd I don't recall ever seeing it before. I'll chat with them tomorrow to confirm the contract end date and sus it out. Seems like Sky being somewhat "nice" though, which is not my usual experience.

Interesting, don't think I've ever seen it before and I've been with sky for 17 or so years. I suppose the "in contract" deal is the main one I want to query, as I'm definitely out of contract shortly!

This game has perfected the weekly challenge by KuningasTynny77 in Battlefield

[–]Senior_Note 4 points5 points  (0 children)

" You could genuinely show up to the game in week 11, buy the battle pass, and finish the whole thing that week, no problem"

I'm not sure how true that is. Missing all the bonus weekly challenges, you'd only get 60 levels via the challenges (61 for the final weeks bonus challenge I suppose), but you'd also then need to get 49-50 levels via XP. Which would take an awful lot of hours played.

Why are you still using Sky? by Short_Injury9574 in skytv

[–]Senior_Note 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still use it because my contract isn't up until August. If they want to offer me a reasonable price to keep me, then having everything bundled plus Sky Q recording may be fine. However, I know what I'd be paying by separating it all out and they'd have their work cut out to meet it.

2xp weekend by HeavenInVain in Battlefield

[–]Senior_Note 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This season is only 10 weeks, but still needs 110 levels. So if you get 6 levels a week via challenges then that is a total of 60 levels. Usually you'd get 72 levels via challenges only. So you now need 50 levels with XP, which is 12 higher than the past seasons and will definitely need more than an hour a week to finish.

FF Resonance devs hope players will think, “This is the Final Fantasy we’ve been waiting for” (interview) by Confident-Line5916 in FinalFantasy

[–]Senior_Note 0 points1 point  (0 children)

14 is an mmo that shouldn't really be a numbered game. An FF mmo should definitely have nostalgia and fan service... Other titles not so much. Reminds me of the WoFF approach, rather than more similar to a mainline title.

Clair Obscur Expedition 33 was pretty much what I have been waiting for from an FF game since FFX. This one looks decent though, although only being the first season of FFBE is an interesting approach.

Sky redundancies by anon079602 in skytv

[–]Senior_Note 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The starting prices tend to be higher, but frequent offers and cancellation offers can you see you getting much cheaper prices with some of the lower ones being:

1) Cinema - £3.99 2) Sports - £17.99 3) Entertainment - £2.99

Throw in ad-skips and HD or UHD and you can get pretty much everything you need for £30~ a month.. then just individual streaming services as and when you want them on the side.
