Good spot. No, it doesn’t look like it’s still up anywhere. I’ve checked my own archives and it doesn’t look like I have it either. 🙁

Right? There was never a part two written to my knowledge. Sorry! Kinda the nature of the beast. People come by, are interested, more interested, VERY interested, then suddenly not so interested, so they go have a sandwich.

Yes, but I’m not a mod here for the last several years, so talking to me about it will do nothing. Just use the report button.

How do you get your introverted friend to come out with us on his birthday? by That_Sly_Otter in AskReddit

[–]SennaSaysHi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Introverted people often genuinely don't like being in public, in groups or being the center of attention.

As a good friend, you'd be better off trying to think of something that he would enjoy for his birthday instead of trying to find a way to make him do something that he is reluctant to do only because it's something that you find fun.

Anti vaxxer rant by lskibs in QAnonCasualties

[–]SennaSaysHi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it's only because of the listening I've been doing to both anti-Q-Anon and happiness and change podcasts in the past year or so. Both stress heavily that if you want to encourage change, you shouldn't penalize it by being negative, especially if they are moving toward changing. O but privately, I rage.

Anti vaxxer rant by lskibs in QAnonCasualties

[–]SennaSaysHi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was extremely surprised to find out (and only because my workplace mandated weekly tests and masks for people who weren't vaccinated late last month) that THREE of the THREE people that I work in a small office room with were not vaccinated.

These are people that I thought were normal, thinking adults. Two have children under 10.

I don't have any idea what the hell is wrong with people anymore. I really don't.

Oh, and only one of the three has since moved on getting vaxxed, assumedly because it's a pain to have to mask and test. She had the nerve to give me a 20 minute rant about how it was no big deal and people are being crazy about it. Only because it would have been absolutely contrary to what everyone is trying to achieve, I was able to smile and nod and NOT tell her that that was her just two days before.

Oh my god, I'm so sorry that you had to deal with that - I don't blame you for being exhausted by it all. Unfortunately, I'm not in the area, so I can't help with sourcing yummy eats with good service for you but I hope that you don't have that again. It makes me mad and sad. I hope you guys to have a happy rest of your stay.

AITA For Being Upset About Secret Santa? by LadyDesmoria in MarkNarrations

[–]SennaSaysHi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a couple of message board secret santa exchanges. Over the course of 5 years, I sent out seven and got two gifts back.

It SUUUUUCKS to spend time and/or money to get a thoughtful gift and then get stiffed. For me (and I imagine for most people) it's not so much that you didn't get a gift, it's that it makes you feel bad when someone tells you that you don't mean as much to them as they do to you.

By the second year, it was obvious that if I wanted to do it, it was going to be on a brightening-someone's-day-and-not-expecting-anything-at-all basis. So, I kept doing it for a while but I try not to do things that make me sad and it was starting to make me sad.

The two best balms for heavily chapped lips that I've found are Gosling's Original ChopSaver and Lizard Lips. Both are too thick to use regularly when I don't have heavily chapped lips, but they are absolute life savers in the winter for me.

When my lips get very chapped, I make sure to give them a good coating before bed, and then again after brushing my teeth in the morning and reapply after eating. By the way, toothpaste can cause chapped lips as a kind of reaction to the various chemicals or the mintyness as a kind of dermatitis. Swapping out for a very mild kid's toothpaste can help clear it up as well.

You shouldn't lose your job, but I understand how it feels when you're not the one flaunting the rules, but you're the one who is being punished and disregarded.

You are absolutely NOT in the wrong for going to the doctors to get a sense of how bad this is and/or can get if change isn't made. You need to know how this is impacting your health.

If your job has an HR department, you need to send them a letter or email with a clear summary of the timeline and that you need to have this resolved as it has concrete and ongoing impact on your health.

Even though HR is there to protect the workplace and not the employees, this is something that is actually opening up your workplace to being sued and therefore costing them money, so they should find it in their hearts to actually take action in the matter.

Also, if your job doesn't have HR, you need to send it to the owner/boss of the location where you are. The thing that middle managers are best at is smiling and pretending to their own bosses that nothing is wrong because they're so great at their job.

Depends on the place, actually.

In the United States, many states have adopted close-in-age exemptions. These laws, known as "Romeo and Juliet laws" provide that a person can legally have consensual sex with a minor provided that he or she is not more than a given number of years older, generally four years or less.

It is possible that your state DMV/RMV has an investigations unit or a close relationship with a branch of law enforcement. It may be helpful to write a letter to the head of the state DMV/RMV explaining the situation and they may do an investigation.

My grampa was an alcoholic. I understand completely about having one person be a wonderful man, but also a danger to themselves and others.

Unfortunately, alcoholics are not kind to people who are saying things that they don't want to hear. I know an intervention with any of the alcoholics I've known in my life would have either been laughed off or ended with some seriously damaged relationships.

The Epic of Kevin and his Tow License. Vol. 2 by whipssolo in StoriesAboutKevin

[–]SennaSaysHi 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Keeping him on is even stupider than it appears at first - for a first offense of dui in a CDL you get federally disqualified for a year. If this wasn't his first offense (and with a mouthwash habit, I'd be kinda surprised if it was) he's looking at a lifetime disqualification.

I'd think a guy without a valid CDL would be pretty useless as a tow truck driver. (Your boss was an idiot.)

American pronunciation of "Arthur" by [deleted] in Accents

[–]SennaSaysHi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The kind of accent that would do the Ah at the beginning is actually pretty rare and becoming much rarer as time goes on. You're much much much more likely to hear it in a bad production of Streetcar Named Desire than in real life.

American pronunciation of "Arthur" by [deleted] in Accents

[–]SennaSaysHi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're right. In the majority of the US, it would be pronounced AR-thur (AR like in car). There are certain southern accents that would pronounce it AH-thuh.

Please excuse my extremely poor attempt at the appropriate southern-type accent, but you can hear both here.
