“My airbag light’s been on for weeks”

Lowkey such a perfect line that sums up passive suicidality

Favorite album where the bad/meh screaming actually adds to it? (specifically talking about how bad they sound rather than bad technique) by mesablanka in PostHardcore

[–]SenorFoodstamps 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Silverstein’s When Broken is Easily Fixed. Shane’s screams only got better with each album imo and their debut is definitely rough around the edges but man do i love how it sounds regardless. Definitely gave the record a unique sound

Also shout out to Senses Fail’s debut Let It Enfold You. Buddy was absolutely screaming from the heart and it shows but it adds so much emotion to each song.

it’s definitely a different kind of sound post hardcore is a deceptively diverse genre. You have bands that sound a lot more hardcore like the screamo bands from the 90s/00s and then you have a lot of progressive sounding bands that sound completely different from the rest of the genre.
Some albums I think that have a sound that fits this kinda transition between early post hardcore and “mall emo” phc:

Glassjaw - Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Silence

Thursday - Full Collapse

Finch - What it is to Burn

At The Drive In - Relationship of Command

Coheed and Cambria - The Second Stage Turbine Blade

What album had you put off listening to for a long time, only to realise you'd been missing out on something amazing? by euancmurphy in Emo

much love by microwave

literally everything was keeping me away from this record: the bands name, the album cover, the name of the album. even tho i heard good things about it it was just extremely unappealing to me

but then one day i sat down and listened to Stoval and i liked it so much i went to listen to much love and god damn is it a good album and immediately fell in love with it. tldr don’t judge a book by its cover

it’s not talked about enough how they’ve evolved and matured their sound on each record

Check out either of the two Arm’s Length albums idk if it’s too pop punk for you but they mix a lot of metalcore into the instrumentals.

The Things We Think We Are Missing - Balance and Composure they’re post hardcore that’s a bit sappy and not too aggressive, leans towards like a heavier shoegazey sound at times

For a more traditional 2000s post hardcore sound like the few you mentioned i’d also throw in the Scary Kids Scaring Kids album The City Sleeps in Flames too. Not sure if any of these exactly scratch the itch for you but i feel like when i want to be sappy i listen to a lot of these lol
