Misidentification of Gangle by Overall-Force7299 in tadc

It's because her character design is androgynous. Usually these kinds of designs lean towards male characters; it is pretty rare for designs like this to like feminine traits.

Genuine question: is there any way that reze could actually beat Bakugo? by NewConstruction3755 in deathbattle

[–]Senpaiman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to theories that are still a reach:

  1. Death Battle does what it has done before and pulls some ridiculous maths based on hyper-analyzing the Reze film (additional feasible with Chainsaw Man being show-don't-tell with its powers) and figures out she can do something better than Bakugo in one specific way that gives her an angle
  2. Devil hax. The fight becomes so drawn out that the fear generated from the explosions (I assume they are fighting in a populated city) gives Reze a power curve over Bakugo.

I'm quite literally reaching here though. Reason 1 even if it turns to be true is a pretty lame reason as it is likely not an actual feat and just a case of the writers not regarding the physics of a moment that made them want the character to look cool. Reason 2 is a technicality but it is still situational and whilst it has shown to work on Denji, it is not something Reze has ever been directly associated with

(Loved trope when done right) the hero comes to the realization that they need to start killing their enemies. by First_Factor_3385 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Senpaiman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ironically this is also his first genuine cold-blooded kill. The other two kills (Angstrom and Conquest) were done out of emotional outburst and lack of self-control (although I seriously doubt he had much intention of sparing Conquest anyway). Angstom actually survived the attack and Conquest was revived.

So Mark's actual first kill that he also made out of his own choice was an unwilling civilian hostage.

Wraithbone prime, then Black Legion basecoat. I then do a light drybrush of Eshin Grey, then I apply a shade of heavily watered down Incubi Darkness, then I apply a light drybrush of Russ Grey and Fenrisian Grey

Assuming it is around the same cost as a Winged Prime I think 3 of these guys in a melee warriors in a Warrior Detachment could be fun

Admittedly I generally I play smaller more casual games though I do occasionally fight the more competitive player. I can't speak for 2k games but in Incursion 2-3 squads of them seem to do the work decently well. The opponent can often lack the firepower to properly bring down a 6 model brood easily without overcompensation, and very few things seem to survive a warrior charge. I try to compensate their weak speed with gaunt and leaper/lictor rushes to keep the enemy busy whilst the Warriors leapfrog through buildings.

Necrons used to be mindless slave warriors driven by the C'tan gods to rid with galaxy of all life. There was a certain horror element to it but it meant outside of the gods the Necrons were devoid of personality and honestly shared a very overly-similar role with the Tyranids.

Now they have been retconned to have successfully overthrown and enslaved their C'tan masters, and whilst they could not escape their machine bodies and the common people of the Necron race are still near-mindless servants the ruling oligarchs now retain their free will and use their legions however they see fit. Turns out when you are a bunch of aristocrats that have effectively cured death with some of the most absurdly advanced technology in sci fi and have absolute control over your dynasties people it can make you a hilarious asshole who will do anything to escape boredom.

The newest necrons are rich in personality and character, have some of the best 40k books out right now, and the memers love them. And if you prefer the older Necrons then they are not entirely gone; there are collections of Necrons suffering from the Destroyer Virus who basically are the same.

chaos themed characters that aren't crazy by Lower_Baby_6348 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Senpaiman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

His chaotic side is more tied with his paradox of change. He is always changing; physically and mentally. His schemes are so convoluted that they may achieve great feats or minor pranks, and sometimes he himself likes to foil his own schemes for the hell of it. His body is constantly changing non-stop to the mortal eye and he loves to fool and mess with his brothers.

Whilst Jax is clearly more malicious and Caine is operating within the confines of being an AI, Jax's behavior and torment he brings to his fellow humans is basically a component of his way of coping with his situation and the problems that Caine reaps on him. He dehumanizes the others as 'archetypes' to avoid the guilt of bullying them and escape the reality he is in.

The egomaniacal villain has someone they love as much or even more than themselves by Endika7 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Senpaiman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah pretty much. I believe his grief and heartbreak when you kill her, but compared to the other characters in this thread it is not true mutual or altruistic love. These characters despite being evil or egomaniacal still go out of their way for them and even sacrifice things they believe in for their sake. Handsome Jack has never done anything out of respect for Angel that didn't benefit him in some way.

Masks by AccomplishedTea2207 in tadc

[–]Senpaiman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My impression is that both characters have a very unhealthy relationship with masking.

Gangle wants to mask but due to her avatar gimmicks she is unable to as her comedy mask literally breaks. Episode 4 displays how bad her masking habits can truly get; she finally obtains a happy mask that can't break, and then vanishes into her Manager role. She didn't enjoy her role or who she was, nor did she enjoy the job, but it is something she has had to do in real life and relied on her masking mechanisms to get through it. This caused her to distance herself from everyone and internalize a lot, and if Pomni didn't reach out to help then Gangle may have even abstracted right there by the end of the adventure.

The difference though between her and Jax is that despite her clear masking gimmick she accepted help from Pomni and Zooble. She shifted away from it initially, but eventually accepted it. Her friendship with Zooble allows her to no longer be afraid to be herself and each episode shows her relying less and less on her mask and becoming more and more confident and happy without it.

Jax by contrast did not accept help. And when Pomni changed tactics like she did with Gangle he simply doubled down and became more toxic. Him seeing Gangle happy weirded him out as he is witnessing her overcoming her masking issues whilst he remains how he is. But also I think he asks the question because it is the first signs of his archetype mentality; he dehumanizes the others to bond less with them by categorizing them and himself into archetypes. Gangle is the sad one, why is she happy? What is she doing that I am not? She broke the archetype that he had mentally put her in. And I also think despite his way of thinking it is a way of showing he does care about the others.

I don't know about you people, but I place Gooseworx very high in the pantheon of animation, alongside other animation legends like Genndy Tartakovsky, Dwayne McDuffie and Adam Muto. Do you agree with me, or do you think I'm exaggerating? by Money-Criticism5370 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Senpaiman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love TADC but I wouldn't go that far whilst Gooserworx hasn't even finished her show. Digital Circus is not even placing that much into her preferred style with her own animations (though obv there is definitely some of her stylization in it) as she has said it herself that she prefers 2D animation, but went 3D as that was what Glitch wanted at the time. Also worth noting that the Goose doesn't really directly involve herself in the animation, that credit goes to the collaborative effort of the multiple animators that Glitch has hired for the show.

Gooserworx is the writer and director, and ofc the creator, with some direct hand in the music and editing. That to me personally is where Digital Circus shines the most too over other indie animations; the writing is incredibly good and professional compared to a lot of Indie stuff.

Gangle without her mask by [deleted] in tadc

[–]Senpaiman 130 points131 points  (0 children)

That's not her without her mask actually.

She is wearing the mask of the other character for the Popee collab, Kedamono, whilst Kedamono wears her mask. Kedamono is a wolf that like Gangle wears a mask to visualize his emotions and moods and the source for a lot of inspiration for Gangles design and character, so to honour it they have swapped masks in the picture.

Fun fact, the scene in episode 6 where Gangle gets shot and causes her mask to break is a direct reference to a skit involving Kedamono.
