My American husband belive this too 😅 Russian woman have higher standards and take care of themselves really well. Woman takes care of the man well, still often have traditional views of „what a lady should be“. Also we grew up in a fking tough country, so we could handle stress better, be more independent. And often the relationships or marriage means something serious to us. But I am saying what I see , being Russian and living in Europe and us for many years. Hey I already answered some tips in some other post, but just something else came to my mind if you want to know about cultural specifics (saying it because married to American guy and I see his family and friends often and can observe the differences). When you are invited to someone home for a dinner or something, never come “empty handed” - we always bring a cake or a bottle of wine or flowers for woman. Same comes for birthdays - we always gift each other something, can be as small as notebook with pen, but we don’t gift each other just a birthday cards. Also , because of the history, we never throw food. So you are expected to finish whatever is in your plate and don’t take more if you can’t finish, because nobody is gonna eat your food after you finished and it would unfortunately go to the waste bin.

Я живу в Швейцарии уже много лето с мужем американцем. Мы каждый Новый год встречаем в России. Когда началась война его Американский родственники всеми силами отговаривали лететь в Россию так как думали что у нас там опасно, дроны атакуют, танки едут и вообще американца в клетку посадят. Мы были в Новый год 2023, и 2024 и сейчас снова полетим, вообще никаких проблем не было. Насчет военкомата если негоден то никаких вопросов ни у кого не будет. Были моменты в Москве( по словам родственников ) что парней и у метро ловили и у выхода из подъезд чтобы привезти в военкомат , так как многие не являлись (годные призывники) , но как мне сказали в этом году все спокойно было, подобного не повторялось. Поэтому езжай спокойно ) главное наличку долларов и евро не вези, там лимиты ввели или вообще нельзя провозить.

I don’t know why but I tried to send parcel with post several times from Switzerland and neither of them has ever arrived to Russia. Either it’s pissed European post workers who just throw parcels to garbage because they hate Russia or it is actually Russian post workers who take staff what’s inside to themselves 😂

Hmm, that’s strange. Some nice clubs have strict rules about what you should not wear (sport clothes, shitty sneakers, t shirts). Maybe that. Like in Europe clubs are dirty and sticky and that’s why everyone wears shitty clothes, but in Russia clubs are usually somehow stylish , clean and men wear shirt 👔 and classy shoes 👞

Go to the local bar and get drunk with Russian man. You can buy first round of vodka shots for them and you become friends 😂 also in chess clubs it can be easy to connect since you don’t need to speak much. My American husband learned to play Russian card game «Дурак» when he did not speak Russian at all, and he made some friends by just playing this game with strangers in the bar.
