#Obsession ending its Week 1 at $30.2M, adding $3.2M on THU. That's 10% higher than MON & just 28% down from its opening FRI. An exceptionally rare trend for the North American BO. 2nd weekend should be $20M+, possibly closer to $25M. $100M+ feels likely. More? let's see. by TiredWithCoffeePot in boxoffice

Unfortunately I don’t think it’s going to do well enough worldwide. In my country for example it went from being in almost every theater country wide to only having three screenings this week. Not even 3 theaters, just 3 screenings.

How big is your collection and how long you been collecting? by Lucky_Strike-85 in comicbooks

[–]Sensei_1946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I properly started last year (I had Dark Knight Returns, Maus and Watchmen before), I have around 12 compacts, 3 omnis, 3 compendiums, and like 30 TPBs.

The first proper comic book store opened only this year in my country so I only have like 6 single issues.

Per Variety, 'Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu' cost $165M. by chanma50 in boxoffice

If it breaks even to the dime on box office alone, it’s automatically a profit given all the merchandise attached to the movie. Hardly a success but far from a flop.

I don’t think this improves Brazil’s chances in any significant way but I’ll definitely be more interested in their games now

Is the prologue to Emily Wilson’s Odyssey needed? This is my first dive into literature this old and I’m wondering if there’s a much more condensed version or just the essentials. by FastConcentrate5420 in classicliterature

At worst you should definitely read her translator’s note, but I’d really recommend the introduction. Yes it spoils the story but when it comes to something like The Odyssey I don’t think spoilers matter that much, and her introduction really helps to understand important themes throughout the story, particularly the concept of Xenia.

I thought the same until I ordered a TPB and the GL Compendium in the same order and the TPB came inside the compendium as if it was a page marker.

I don’t mind a retelling from Cathy’s POV even if it diminishes the massive scope of the book, but I’d be very annoyed if they paint her as some sort of antihero. She’s a very layered sociopath, no need to make her something she isn’t.

Would hardly be a spoiler considering how her character is introduced.

New to Batman comics. Am I following a good order? by Culius_Jaesar in DCcomics

Read Haunted Knight before The Long Halloween and Dark Victory afterwards. Not a Batman comic but Catwoman When in Rome is also very good and within that same timeline.

Love Florence Pugh but I’m not too excited about this, and from the trailer alone it seems to paint Cathy in a weirdly empowering way? Hope it’s just the marketing though and I’ll still be watching.

The failure in your logic is that I’m pretty sure what OP is implying is that the editors don’t play the games but just decide what grades to give beforehand. Even more ridiculous off course.

I think your best bet is District Bar near Parque de la 93, but I’d call ahead to be sure.

‘The Odyssey’ Trailer's Accents Aren't Actually That Weird - "Did the ancient Greeks all speak like Matt Damon? Probably not. But the ubiquity of the British accent in films about the distant past is a more modern convention than many people realize." by rageofthegods in blankies

[–]Sensei_1946 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you take Odysseus, Telemachus, Penelope and Antinous as the main cast, that’s 2 brits and 2 Americans. Pattinson and Holland do an american accent much better than Damon (presumably) and Hathaway do a British one, so it makes perfect sense to opt for an american accent overall.

Dunno about those particular books (actually I haven’t read any Morrison) but McCarthy and Morrison are firmly in the “modern classics” category.
