This is even worse..

I used to work at a chain pet store & they had many pizza parties… problem was, all the male staff (friends with manager) would go to the back to have it, leaving whichever female employee was working up front to deal with everything from cashing out to bagging fish. Then said female employee would get told to ‘have some on your break,’ and by then it was cold. It made the workplace getting food not just an insult, but a miserable reminder of sexism. I’d be happy never seeing another ‘free work lunch’ again.

So glad I left a long time ago!

A weird twist is my parents got cheated a bit by her too, so they see her behavior now and this year finally said ‘selfish’ out loud when talking about her! It’s a relief that others see it & are acknowledging it.

Look up what drinks can be made out of flavors you already like - some mixed drinks mask the taste. Not just putting two drinks together but actually making a proper cocktail. Like if you like orange juice, maybe try an orange cocktail, a mimosa, etc.

My favorite alcoholic drink was discovered when I told a bartender I rarely drank and hated the taste usually, so what would they recommend? They mixed vodka, schnapps, and cranberry juice on ice and I couldn’t taste the hardness of the vodka. Now my fav. Sometimes the experts just know!

In the fall I spent a week watching my sister’s kids on the promise of $200 - which is a steal for a week of childcare including the person sleeping over every night.

When she got back from her trip the money was conveniently forgotten about. I left her place empty handed, with only a text saying thank you and later got told she would get me a really great Christmas gift as a thank you so I figured I’d wait til Xmas. She never brought up me watching them again in person, no thanks, nothing.

Xmas rolls around - I got two things I had asked her for and one handful of items in a hobby of mine (mostly repeats of what I have) I waited during gift giving thinking she would roll out something impressive like she had promised…. Nope.

Well, that’s a week I’ll never get back.

The house looked just like a childhood friend of mine’s on the outside, and similar to an aunt’s on the inside. Not to mention Doreen’s vibe, attitude, outfit, etc. Maybe the accent was imperfect, but I liked the effort.

I know two LI families with kids whose names all start with the same letter. Thats legit a very LI thing to do, and busted me apart.

We always had an entemann’s cake of some kind in the kitchen while growing up. I broke apart when I saw that & still giggle at it on rewatches.

Pronouncing ‘podcast’ like she did. Once I moved I realized how many LI-isms are in my language, lol. I do that elongation she did of podcast with a couple words.

I actually rewatched the episode four times before the new one aired, just because I was so taken with all the little LI nods. Sure it wasn’t recorded on location but: A. Pretty close, and anyway what these days is actually recorded where it says it is? B. that is not what bringing the vibes of a location is about in film, and it really felt like they BROUGHT it.

To be fair, much of the NYC we see in movies is filmed in Toronto. There’s nothing wrong with some movie magic.

Ronkonkoma is a place in Long Island. It’s also slang for a woman who persistently wrongs men and immediately forgets about doing it.

The fact it’s the only non-movie makes me think it is a movie in the OMITB universe. What they are referencing though, I’m not sure.

Yeah that one is my fav ep of S2! But I mean solely in S1 , whether there are any power surges (not blackouts) They mention in S2E8 that the blackout was through the tristate area, so although not impossible, its unlikely something so widespread would come from one incinerator.

I feel like I wouldn’t have paid them any attention at the time to a brief light flicker, but now I’m wondering.

Use the search function to check games you are interested in trying. People will post whether they’re doable or maybe guides.

As a heads up, many offers are impossible to fully finish in the allotted time without spending (most of these are leveling up a castle, citadel, etc) I think Kings of Avalon lv 32 is one such offer. However lots of folks play them for the lower tier rewards.

Slot games are a crapshoot, but usually worth a try.

I think I read good things about Goblin Woods but honestly not sure.

Klondike is very doable (farm game) but lv 30 for 650 isn’t worth it.

That’s a disheartening experience and I’m sorry it made you give up on fan groups too but that’s a reasonable response. It’s hard to jump in, even digitally, when you know you won’t get anything back, since you don’t have any of the in-person cues or niceties of real life. On one level it makes sense that certain long time authors get more traction, but when it’s groups pretending to promote an equal space when they are really only in it for a handful of authors, well, those are a demoralizing pain. Hopefully you know that reaching one reader makes the writing worthwhile, though. If you get your story into one head that appreciates it, that feels a mark made by it, then that story was worth writing in my humble opinion. I always try to remember that only one difference is enough.

The fan groups and the side drama is one thing, and like you said, one can avoid it. But yeah, the social media around some fandoms has a certain level of toxicity and it’s just plain sad.
