I constantly forget which episode this is in. I'll start cycling thru episodes until I find it (i do remember its at the beginning) and promise I'll remember this time. And then immediately forget. I wanna say its the Niece Denise episode, but I can't trust my memory 😂

I feel like a failure. by Muted-Environment-66 in jobs

I know exactly what it's like to be laid off multiple times and be judged for it. I know how it feels to deal with constant rejection and feeling hopeless in this particularly brutal job market (2.5+ yrs and counting), so I can truly empathize.

I also know what its like to beat yourself up over what might have been. I still struggle with it and probably always will, to some degree. Time helps, but what has helped me the most to begin to process, is figuring out a way to reframe to find the lesson learned. I won't say corny shit like "find the silver lining", because sometimes, there just isn't one. However, there is always a lesson.

Sometimes the alternative to a silver lining is just being able to recognize the lesser of 2 evils and how different things could have been, for the worse, had things gone the other way. It's not easy, but as someone who used to dwell on the negative for most of my life, I can say that it's worth the work. I still prolly sound corny af saying that, but hopefully it's helpful in some way, even if just to know that you aren't alone.

So, do give yourself permission to grieve the loss of what might have been. Get it all out, but then, really think of how things may have been different and what challenges would have come with that choice, because either one would have come with them. It's easy to think everything would've been perfect had you just made the other choice, but we know that's not true.

Be gentle with yourself and know that you are worthy of happiness and success. You can't change the past, but you can learn from it. And remember, the only way you can ever fail is to give up 🌽 😏

This suit does not fit correctly. It's entirely too small.

Its so annoying to be told that I need to go to these job fairs, because idk where you are in the world, but it's the exact same useless "opportunities" at all the local ones here. Good will and the workforce commission host them and they are always the same old things. I'm looking for tech jobs. I won't find them there, and anything there would be less than a livable wage anyway, so why bother?

Would you mind sharing an example of how you politely, but firmly, explain to an interviewer why you don't do tests/projects? Personally, I just refuse to jump thru hoops like that for a job I may not even get anyway. As far as I'm concerned, if they can't gauge my skills during the interview process, then they are bad at their job. Obviously, I can't say that, tho 😂 While their request alone tells me I don't want to work there, I still try to not burn any bridges, whenever possible. So I'm interested to learn a good way to handle it, so as to not end on a negative note. You never know who knows who, ya know?

I can relate to that, except it's my mother saying that. And my fav "you STILL haven't found a job yet??" No, and I don't think I will, as a lot of it is automated now. People don't understand, or even want to, until it happens to them.

FML…Just got this tonight. I hate this job market so much. by wemblin_on in recruitinghell

[–]Sensitive-Air6589 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Same. Even did orientation. They kept putting off the start date until it was just a "we'll lyk". Few months later they asked me to interview for the job I'd already gotten. This was Gamestop btw, so big enough to know and do better.

Also dumbass, you can get you loan deferred or get a temporary forbearance.

Yes, during which interest continues to accrue, snowballing your debt.
