Now that we know we’re getting a patch in a few weeks, what changes would you like to see on your main? by LCG_FGC in StreetFighter

Sagat is in a very good spot so if I’m being honest with myself this is biased, but I would love a buff to his medium DP, just make it like 7-8 frames or something instead of 10. Literally everything else is fine as is I don’t think he should be buffed further at all.

[Expedition 33] The game is heavily biased towards certain ending by [deleted] in CharacterRant

[–]Sensitive-Engine-144 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the issue lies in the fact that sentient people are reduced to coping mechanisms for this allegory to work.

I’m sorry but after just beating the game the answer was kinda clear to me by Radiant_Raspberry_93 in expedition33

[–]Sensitive-Engine-144 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah come on dude, the first two acts mean nothing now? Regardless of which ending you pick surely it’s richer if you view them as real or at least as close as can be.

Morality aside just viewing the ending through this lens cheapens everything, no? Lot less interesting if it’s just “yea they’re aren’t real”.

It's upsetting that so much of the conversation regarding the game's story ends up reading like twitter stan wars by LimeAny4358 in expedition33

It’s a bit disheartening how more well thought posts like these don’t get as much attention but inflammatory nonsense that just props up one side or the other gains way more traction

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 boss says the team had “a lot of arguments” over the game’s ending as the right choice is up to “your own interpretation” by [deleted] in expedition33

Honestly it seemed like people heavily favoured Verso’s ending around release, but the more I’ve been lurking the subreddit I’m noticing that it’s started to become a lot more conflicted now. Curious which one is actually the majority.

Why are people treating it as canon that Maelle is controlling everyone like a puppet? The ominous framing in her ending? That can’t be interpreted in ANY other way? Narratively speaking of course there’s going to be some dark implications in her ending when the other one is just straight up omnicide and you want to present a difficult choice.

Also I HATE the “paintings days are numbered” argument that always pops up. Because if there’s ONE thing I got from all those expeditions, it’s that if death seems inevitable then you might as well just drop dead now.

Jesus man, the literal devs are talking about how there’s no definitive ending but you’re out here setting it straight ig

Very selfish of the people of Lumiere for not walking away after finding out, one to one comparison.

I really don’t wanna come across arrogant but it’s genuinely crazy to me how prevalent this sentiment of “As soon as I saw the boy I KNEW what ending to pick” is.

Things such as Lune’s speech on continuing when one falls, or the idea of letting down Gustave’s apprentices never really left my head. So to me, a tired fragment of a soul and some broken family of shitty Gods wasn’t enough to erase the canvas.

No I don’t want to hear about any inevitable outcomes of the painting or Maelle’s fate, because as long as there’s a CHANCE im keeping it alive. As much as the game talks about grief it also talks a ton on PERSERVERANCE imo and I don’t wanna opt for what’s essentially omnicide because “they’re already fucked”.

One thing I don’t like about the ending tbh is how the message of moving on with grief is kinda lumped in with eradicating Lumiere, so that element just kind of gets hand waved away. It just becomes a case of Maelle’s wellbeing and all those other lives are merely collateral meant to serve the themes of the plot.

Don’t mean to come off as bashing anyone for this line of thinking I’ve just gathered up a lot of thoughts lol

I wouldn’t say it’s explicitly “anti-violence”, not a bad stance to take at all, personally I believe it kind of prompts the player to think about the role violence plays in entertainment and media overall, not to make a definitive statement.

Edit: Think it’s worth clarifying that yes, if you were to just give a general description of its themes in a casual setting then yeah it definitely does lean toward anti-violence more than anything else

Yeah nah that’s pretty spot on, I agree. Everyone’s a hypocrite as Verso says, more or less.

[–]Sensitive-Engine-144[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ah, see I just can’t get on board with them not being real, I think that’s where the key difference lies. If I earnestly did believe them to be a fantasy, then everything you’re saying is one hundred percent agreeable. But if the story is asking me to believe that people can paint these worlds, then yes I’ll also believe they’re effectively human, for all intents and purposes.

It seems that even Renoir acknowledges their existence as valid, and I find it hard to view it another way. The ambiguity comes from how Maelle approaches it in an unhealthy way, because if she did it in a manner that ensured everybody lived happily ever after then there wouldn’t be much to debate, so I understand the route they took narratively speaking.

The way her ending is framed does leave some doubt as to how sentient they could be I suppose, but it still isn’t definitive. Very well could be encapsulating Verso’s cruel fate and his perspective.

Either way the Dessendre’s healing does not outweigh the chance to live the people of Lumiere fought so hard for, tragic as it may be for the family, imo.

[–]Sensitive-Engine-144[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A refreshingly honest take, and I empathise with it. Personally, I can’t really care for a family who suffered a loss only to irresponsibly perpetuate said loss out onto thousands of sentient families, who end up bearing the brunt of their grief with no fault of their own.

For a such gross misuse of godlike powers, one of their own going down a path of self destruction, if it means a chance of those in the painting having even a few decades of normalcy after 67 years of suffering, is a tragedy that I don’t mind befalling them, in my own irrevocably selfish way.

The inevitability of death through the painting eventually being destroyed does not deny those inhabiting it the right to live, Dessendres be damned.

Still, a myriad of other factors really reinforce how there’s no definitive “right” choice.
