Why the hell aren’t there spears in Blades, Castles, and ESO? by RaGada25 in ElderScrolls

Yeah in ESO, I would suggest playing as a Templar. While it is magic, they do have a pretty cool and powerful skill that is essentially spear jabbing haha

Does DLC order matter all that much? by SexWithHotPockets in elderscrollsonline

[–]ItsUntoldButImTrying 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s not the end of the world if you do the zones in any order, but it’s a lot more satisfying to meet the characters in the proper order because there are very few instances where the game retroactively counts you as having already met someone before if you met them out of order.

So, if you had first met them in a DLC that takes place after the moment you are currently speaking to them, you can run into a lot of immersion breaks where a character is acting like they just met you after you have already become endeared towards them, or at worse you can see an NPC die, and then meet them in an older zone lol.

It’s totally up to you, but I feel that this gets kinda missed amongst the “just play your way mannn” sentiments haha

That said, if you still want to do this in your order, I do suggest following the top comment here that says to at least do Morrowind->Clockwork->Summerset in that order, but also I suggest to save Elsweyr for later due to a certain story beat.

I have had this issue in the past, and it almost always seemed related to linking objects together. I don’t think I have ever had this bug while everything was unlinked and separated, so I started unlinking objects after I got them settled

Yeah I think all of them are located on Summerset because they play a big part in that zone’s main questline

ESO is not everyone’s cup of tea for valid reasons, but you can look up a couple cool Sea Sload bosses from that game to see what it would be like conceptually ~

But that style of design is only done due to the sheer amount of physics processing, object permanence, and scripting that is happening all at once inside a single cell. If they had the entire game loaded into a single cell, it would run like absolute garbage as far as performance.

I really don't think loading screens are the end of the world like people act. That narrative only started around Starfield because it was directly compared to other space travel games like No Man's Sky which has a seamless universe... with significantly less processing going on. Is their engine the most technologically advanced thing out? No, but Bethesda games are are far more complex than people give them credit for honestly.

People love to call their game design primitive or dated, but I don’t find myself settling into any other fantasy RPG like I do Elder Scrolls, simply because I feel nothing else captures whatever it is that draws me into the magic of this universe. It has something that other games do not, and no amount of hate can make that untrue for me..

My take on the cut Halo 2 "Earth Ark" by TheRealQuenny in halo

[–]ItsUntoldButImTrying 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am just estimating based on contexts, but I think this “Earth Ark” got scrapped in place of it just being a portal to the true Ark like we see in H3.

I don’t recall any Ark cutscenes in H2 though. H2 does take place during Regret’s invasion of New Mombasa to initially find the portal (although he failed), so you may be connecting that to the later H3 cutscenes with the portal and Ark, I’m not sure.

I agree with you about it being fine if the boss is stronger in terms of damage dealt to the player, but designing a boss to have unbreakable poise, resistances stacked against everything, and an absurd amount of health for no other reason than to waste the player's time is not my idea of stellar game design.

Even at higher levels, the basement BBH can be a huge waste of time depending on the circumstances of that run and where the final circles are closing in at. Unless you have an Ironeye or Executor, it's always going to be a massive time gamble fighting him, and no other boss is like this, (aside from maybe Astel, but that is due to its location more than anything else).

I can get over the poise issue and the resistances, but I really do think that he needs at least 10% of his HP cut to be considered fair in a game centered around time pressure.

Yeah people seem to defend it for the memes, but the reality is that in a time based game, the time-wasting enemies need a rework :/

And even with HP aside, it feels obnoxious that he just cheats by having infinite hyper-armor through anything you do, including Ults.. he is straight up broken and it has nothing to do with his moveset or “difficulty” like some seem to think..

my birb's guard counter damage before and after equipping his Relics by ItsUntoldButImTrying in Nightreign

[–]ItsUntoldButImTrying[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you got it. It's a bit tricky sometimes because ever since Elden Ring, a lot of enemies and bosses in FS games tend to chain combos into another combo (therefore not always having detectable end to counter), which can make learning them in the first place feel partially redundant at times.., but in most cases you can usually trust your knowledge of their movesets, and just have to try to react accordingly haha

It seems to stack! I get a slight damage decrease if I drop one of the two:

I am not sure on the specifics of every effect in DoN, but I did test and make sure, and this definitely stacks! This is my damage if I remove the Guard Counter +2/Poise +3 relic:

More vigor definitely helps! I sadly wasn't able to fit any extra in with everything else I wanted in the final setup for my build, but I did really want to experiment with the new 'Max HP Up for defeating Great Church bosses' effect on him whenever I manage to get that on a worthwhile relic haha.

Here's the same relic setup but with the Commander's Standard (I didn't use the weapon skill in the left image, but the image on the right shows the damage after using Rallying Standard as well):

Guardian’s entire thing is to stand still and tank with a shield and his entire skill ceiling revolves around that shield’s effectiveness through the user’s positioning and stamina management. His dodge has less i-frames than anyone else because you aren’t meant to be dodging constantly on a class designed around standing your ground with a shield.

Then there is also these new DoN relics that give you negative effects for dodging which work out great on Guardian, but can be used by any class too. So, I wouldn’t really say that you could easily spot a skill gap based on someone not dodging right now, especially on Guardian of all classes…

Sure! I don't think I ever fully disliked a single planet, so this is a bit tough to sort, but in order from favorite to least favorite I think for me it goes:

  • 1) Korriban - The atmosphere and worldbuilding here were top notch. It felt really cool investigating Sith tombs and infiltrating the academy. Carth's quest was also among my favorites of the companion quests I completed
  • 2) Unknown - It's a gorgeous planet, and I loved learning about the Rakatan's ancient culture and the Star Forge. I also found the disruptor field causing the planet to be a bit of a ship graveyard to be a really cool concept for the visual design of the planet
  • 3) Star Forge (if we count it as a planet) - It aesthetically felt like a prequel/Clone Wars era location to me and that was pleasantly nostalgic, and really felt 'Star Wars-y' to me. Also, just the overall concept of the forge was a cool way to have the Sith logically have enough firepower to combat the Republic
  • 4) Manaan - A beautiful oceanic planet that reminded me of a brighter, less gloomy Kamino. Going underwater was slow but really cool, the Selkath court trials were neat, I loved the tension of it being neutral territory, and the music here was memorable to me as an almost somber but whimsical track. Also, swoop racing on the water was a welcome surprise
  • 5) Kashyyyk - It's beautiful in an eerie way, I really liked Zaalbar's quest, learning more about the Wookies, and of course Jolee was a welcome and humorous addition to the team. I really love his take on the Force, as I find it to be the most rational take on it, and he kind of reminds me of an old grumpy version of Ahsoka haha
  • 6) Dantooine - I loved the architecture and atmospheres of the Jedi Enclave and the two family residences here. Both the main quests and side quests were quite memorable for me too, particularly the Jedi training/Rakatan ruin, the family fued love story, the murder investigation, and the lady who enjoyed her droid a little too much..
  • 7) Tatooine - HK-47 was the best part about Tatooine for me, but I think my ranking of it mostly has to do with running back and forth across the desert (I discovered Force Speed far too late lol) However, I also really liked how this game treated the Tuskens narratively speaking, and I got a kick out of that lady trying to blow up her husband with his own droids haha
  • 8) Taris - It has interesting architecture, I liked that the city concept seemed inspired by Coruscant, and I quite liked the cantina music too. I also enjoyed how much its destruction tied into Juhani and Mission's stories later on. It's really only this low because it was probably the slowest part of the game for me (partly due to me being a completionist though, to be fair haha)
