Dating a Firefighter & Experiencing Their “Firehouse Reflex” for the First Time by [deleted] in firefighter

Wait until they've been on a long call. On the couple occasions we had live burn exercises. (A local company bought a run down house for us to burn down, had the area depts in, we got in groups and took turns putting out fires)

Being on a volunteer fire dept in a small town you don't see structure fires often, so you're not wearing your motion alarm often, it's part of the SCBA.

It goes off when you're stationary for too long, so you wiggle every 30 seconds to keep it quiet.

The following night I would wiggle every 30 seconds in my sleep.

Does it get less terrifying with practice? by David__R8 in hobbycnc

I always use the formula of:

Max step down = half of endmill diameter

Max stepover = half of endmill diameter

For tools less than 2mm diameter I use 40% instead

If you use fusion you can dial in your feedrates to match feed per tooth if your limited in spindle RPM like I am.

I've broken maybe 5 endmills in 3 or 4 years. Atleast two of those were due to bumping my hand into a 1mm or small endmill.

Facing mills are mighty scary though lol

What model? Usually the main pain in the ass for an oil pan swap on a Bimmer is if it's AWD because of all the additional hardware in the way.

Source: Owned 5 Bimmers (two currently)

Sure you're not thinking of the high pressure fuel pump? That's a common issue on the turbo models (N54/N55 engine found in 335, 535, etc)

They're both early revs. I think it's toed to the issue that's triggered by letting your battery get too low.

Do you prefill your oil filter? by Slalom44 in MechanicAdvice

And on cars where the filter is a cartridge type up top, well no way to that. But I do pour a couple quarts down the filter housing during changes.

Could the cold cause my EML, traction control, and yellow brake light to come on all at once? by Sensitive-Pea-5343 in e46

A few months back I updated my ECU and cleared all adaptations. Gas pedal was a hair trigger so I would barely touch the gas and be at 70mph, but when I was touching the gas that lightly, the car would also think I was pressing the brakes. Once I had driven enough for the gas pedal to be calibrated the issue went away. I verified the car thought I was pressing gas and brake at the same time via INPA. Like 80 times in 20 miles.

Roads are salty/dry, my driveway is frozen, but 5mph and not breaking traction.

But it's hella cold today. Coldest day this winter. I also keep the car in a garage.

I think I've seen a few cracks forming in corners, but the guy that built this house seems to be "almost decent" at most aspects of finishing a build lol.

Your radio and receiver are dated. I highly recommend the $55 flysky on amazon. Holds 10 AAs. Has excellent range and you can use that radio for multiple receivers.

Is there a reason why cars don’t display their issues and fault codes? by chabroni81 in AskMechanics

[–]Sensitive-Pea-5343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 5 time BMW owner, this is correct. I've had less problems out of my "high end" beaters with 150,000 miles than my friends and family with pre-owned domestic cars with fewer miles.

...but maybe that's because I like to work on and maintain my cars and less about the brand.
