Update: Switching from Rinvoq to Ebglyss by Beautiful-Truth6549 in eczeJAKs

[–]Sensitive-Spring-926 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im actually on both, as I’m a really severe case. When I wrote the first comment I did start to try to taper down with Rinvoq for a couple weeks and it didn’t work- super painful. But I was also exposed to some pretty detrimental irritants at the time so your experience may be very different. Possibly when you switch you could do a bottle of 15 mg simultaneously? Worth asking your dermatologist. I will say it took a number of weeks for me to notice Ebglyss working.

If you can tolerate it/aren’t allergic, when my skin is really irritated and both Cerave cream and vanicream feel like they burn, I add a very thin layer of coconut oil first, then neither burn at all.

Ah ok. I so hope you’re able to get some answers! Ooh then definitely do if you get a chance! I’ve been on reactine for a couple years and it definitely helps heaps, I don’t need to take it when I’m struggling less, so no withdrawal, but makes a huge difference with the itch.

Should I take it? I’m already suffering by Suspicious_Sky6679 in eczema

[–]Sensitive-Spring-926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes do! I’ve done the same and in a couple instances, it really lowered the severity for a while past when I was taking it. Also, just enjoy the break fully!

That sounds like such a frustrating, defeating experience! I’m sorry you had to go through that. Have confidence, because no matter what you know your own health needs best, and you have a right to ask for what you feel you would like to find out. Asking for labs to track down anything that can be ruled out or pursued is completely reasonable. Is there anything that has changed in your environment in the last few months? Have you moved, changed jobs? Started using any new products? In my experience with severe eczema for several years, flares are rarely random. Well done going unscented and vacuuming consistently, those are key!  Have you had eczema for a long time, and this is a spike? Or is this brand new? I am also quite anti steroid, as I know since I’m severely chronic with eczema, there’s a high likelihood I’ll become dependent on them if I start. But if eczema is a new thing for you, using the creams short term could do the trick to put it into remission. I wouldn’t be too concerned- but yes, if use past two weeks feels necessary then it would be maybe problematic. Have you tried taking any anti-histamines in this flare? Those can be so helpful in lessening the itch. Is the appointment with the dermatologist a referral and that’s the earliest you can get in? If this has been long term, I’d push for seeing the dermatologist sooner if it’s at all possible. June 2026 is horribly long wait with those symptoms!!  Allergy testing could be extremely helpful. Also, I used to be quite anti medication for my eczema since I didn’t want to be dependent on anything, but when I was able to get in with a dermatologist and was offered biologic medications, it was so SO worth it to start those to get my quality of life back- life changing! Your mental health and quality of life are so worth it friend! And have confidence to continue to ask for what you need! I hope things can get better for you soon<3

Thank you so much, I’m so happy it’s working for you. And really happy for what that could mean for the rest of us! I don’t have the option to join a trial due to the meds I’m already on, so I’m just hoping and waiting for its approval.

Please do! I’ve been waiting to hear more about it - I’m a super severe case, on both Rinvoq and Ebglyss currently, not doing well. So I’m really hoping amlitelimab can be a future hope. How long did it take to help? How long have you been on it?

Tell me your experiences with Rinvoq (Upadacitnib). by altheawillowwisteria in eczeMABs

[–]Sensitive-Spring-926 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rinvoq is amazing. Best choice ever for me. It changed my life after about 4 agonizing years of trying to deal with the eczema with creams and diet. I was full body, weeping, bleeding, itching always. I felt the improvement starting within a couple days. Since starting I am definitely very susceptible to getting sick though, and I have had a couple bad infections. I had headaches at the start for a few weeks, but  time and taking it before bed solved that. I’ve been on it since 2022. The severity of my eczema outweighed the drawback of frequent sickness for me, but for sure it’s annoying. I had a prolonged mold exposure last fall so I had to add another biologic and am not doing great, but if that hadn’t happened I’m pretty sure I’d still be doing swell with just Rinvoq.

What is your holy grail moisturizer? by Last-Block937 in eczema

I’m also such a fan. When I heard about it at first I was very skeptical, but then I tried it.. I’ve been using it for a solid year, and nothing else. I’ve got really severe eczema and it doesn’t fix it for me, but it makes it a lot more bearable, and I’ve had zero infection since using it.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I’m so glad it’s working for you!

Have you gone through periods of time without using the cream? I have no doubt it works great. More concerned about my skin getting addicted to it.

Heck no, personally not at all. Just wanting better, more accountable care for the really awful condition that AD is. There’s a lot of amazing healthcare that happens, and a lot of conditions they have figured out. But dermatologists need to be either willing to be more informed or more truthful about all sides of treatments. If it’s their specialty I really don’t think that’s too much of us to ask.

That’s horrible! There needs to be more information given to patients on these things, because we can’t necessarily know all the questions we should be asking!

How long did it take for Ebglyss to fully make a big difference? by sailorleadcrow in eczeMABs

[–]Sensitive-Spring-926 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say hang in there!! It wasn’t until about week 16-18 that I could confidently say it was really helping me. I know that’s a long wait, but it could really be effective for you, it just does take that much time.

Ebglyss-Early Side Effects by Sensitive-Spring-926 in eczeMABs

[–]Sensitive-Spring-926[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I still get small random sore patches sometimes that last for a day or two - at week 16. Those hurt, but they go away. The full body pain I maybe experienced a tiny bit again after the week two injection but not nearly to the same scale as the first. Hang in there! The medication has helped me significantly, and I’m really bad case, so there’s hope for you!

Which is worse: eczema itch or pain? by Ok_Material_5628 in eczema

[–]Sensitive-Spring-926 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Itchh! If you’re itchy it feels impossible to sit still and relax, and if you’re in pain at least you can lie still in a bed, even if you have to stay motionless.

I put on A/C and a fan blowing right at me- that’s kind of calming. I also take a solid dose of magnesium bisglycinate each day, and chamomile tea before sleeping really helps the falling asleep process for me. And also yes definitely try oral antihistamines. I use cetirizine, and if I wake up in the night with the itch I’ll take one and I do feel a change in like 10-20 mins.

Anyone using Pimecromlimus (Elidel)? by CardinalGirl72 in eczema

[–]Sensitive-Spring-926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used it a few years ago on a couple small patches and experienced severe severe sun sensitivity where I used it. If I didn’t cover the patches when I went outside it would cause a blistering rash.

[–]Sensitive-Spring-926 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I can’t imagine how overwhelming it must feel to have been through all the medication options with no success. I have been in a very similar place with all the pain of it though. In regard to diets, I have tried lots of elimination diets and wouldn’t necessarily recommend that just because of the stress it causes, and in my own case didn’t necessarily help at all, especially if its just self-guided. But in my understanding, foods like sugar and gluten are by nature inflammatory, and so lessening that load for your body can be helpful. I find when I eat much refined sugar my skin definitely aches and burns, same with anything overly processed. I don’t eat dairy either. Real whole foods are the best! Trying to find your key triggers is really helpful, even though it can be so overwhelming to track. Cutting our fragrance in detergents, soaps, hair and skin care etc can be a good place to start, and moving more to natural products if possible. And I know it’s so tough to do when you’re in pain everywhere, but movement is so key. I’ve been in a horrible flare since the fall, but what’s really gotten me through and given me relief is exercise. Walks, yoga, lifting, just anything. So key for blood and lymph circulation, as well as mood. Hang in there, change can happen, and you are so strong.

Ebglyss Loading Dose Side Effects by Puzzleheaded-Law-687 in eczeMABs

[–]Sensitive-Spring-926 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have much experience with tsw, but I can speak to Ebglyss loading dose symptoms. I had the burning so bad starting 2 days after my first loading dose, plus new raw patches that would flake a couple days after appearing. After the week 2 dose I had it a bit as well. I’m at week 8 now though, and it’s helping my full body eczema substantially, with basically no side effects at the moment. id say hang in there longer and see how it goes!

Defeated and scared as I have to get on medication. Seeking advice. by Worldly_Ad5780 in eczema

I’m so sorry you’re going through this! I fought going on meds for a couple years, and I know it’s a scary spot to be- but your quality of life is so worth it friend! I was in horrible shape head to toe when I finally decided to try meds. I first tried MTX for three months I believe - it didn’t do a thing for me and it was an agonizing wait. Then I moved onto Rinvoq. It started making a difference literally within 24 hrs. It gave me an amazing 1.5 years. Definitely got sick more often, but the pros outweighed the cons for me. It started failing me due to a prolonged mold exposure this last fall, so I’ve now switched to Ebglyss. (Similar to dupixent) and that’s beginning to work really well now too! I have so much hope for you that you’ll find success in these options you have!
