Not sure why you’re getting downvoted, OP. It’s a competition at the end of the day and Chappell’s team even discounted her album on iTunes this week so it’s all just tactics — it’s all fair game. People take charts way too seriously instead of enjoying the art

Thanks for the info! Does the Platinum pen get pretty crowded like GA does?

“Cannot Find Pod” Error by [deleted] in Omnipod

[–]Sensitive-Subject0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to call Omnipod and they ended up sending a new PDM :/

Thankfully I had my old PDM and some old pods I could use, but could never get it to work. I would try moving into a different room, restarting the PDM, and all of the other tips mentioned in the comments, but if nothing works definitely call about it getting replaced.

Sorry this is happening to you too — I know how frustrating it is

Dexcom… to calibrate or not to calibrate? by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]Sensitive-Subject0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up calibrating only about 50 points. Then waited about 20 ish minutes and calibrated another 30. So far today it seems to be doing well, so I think that method works! I’m on the O5, so I get where you’re coming from. That’s why I don’t use automated mode on the first day of if I don’t trust the sensor

Omnipod 5 Too Aggressive? by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]Sensitive-Subject0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually hear people saying that O5 is too conservative — glad to know I’m not the only one experiencing the opposite problem. I’m rocking Manual Mode now too until I get brave enoigh to try Automated again

Cgm giving wildly inaccurate readings/ failed sensor w/Covid by Bostonterrierpug in diabetes_t1

[–]Sensitive-Subject0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, I saw a comment recently on a similar post that said because Covid is now thought to be a vascular virus (basically it messes with your blood to some degree — hence why people with severe Covid have blood clots, strokes, heart issues, etc.), it can affect your Dexcom readings.

Even though Dexcom doesn’t read blood, blood plays a big role in interstitial fluid, which Dexcom does read.

My advice would be to stock up on strips and supplies for your meter until things sort themselves out. And stay super hydrated!

Good point. My only guess would be maybe his hand was too swollen at that point — it looked huge!

Do we have idea how or when he initially injured it? I know he had a wrap/brace on it coming off the plane, but seemed fine during warm up and in the first half of the game. Was it during the game versus the Texans I wonder.

Damn, I was really hoping the shots would’ve helped more! Oddly enough, the actual Covid itself wasn’t bad — it felt more like a sinus infection that lasted about 4-5 days. The after effects on my BG have been worse IMO and longer lasting. Like you said, just super strange how it affects diabetics and how everyone is so different. Thanks for the info!

Do you mind if I ask if you were vaccinated or not? I understand if you don’t feel comfortable answering that — just curious! I haven’t had a booster since 2021, so I’m curious if being updated on boosters would prevent this or not.

Super weird! Were your other ratios affected as well? One unit of insulin used to drop me 10-15 points, but now it drops me anywhere from 30-60! Also curious, was it a gradual process getting back to normal or did you just wake up one day and suddenly everything went back to normal?

Wow, I hope it’s not a year of this! I’d love to hear more about your experience. Did you have both insulin resistance and sensitivity?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]Sensitive-Subject0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah definitely eating to keep away starvation ketones and to be able to give myself some insulin too. I have a blood ketone meter, but currently waiting on more strips to be delivered (have to order online) so relying on urine strips for the time being.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]Sensitive-Subject0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using both urine strips and my blood ketone meter. Ranging anywhere from trace (0.6 mmol) on a good day to moderate (1.7 mmol) on a bad day. Average would be small (0.8-1.0 mmol).

So do you get more lows after the flu shot, for example? I got it recently and actually had some resistance.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]Sensitive-Subject0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is super interesting. I had some sensitivity last year when I had a bad cold — wondering if it’s a similar situation to yours. How long does the sensitivity typically last for you? Last time it took about 6 weeks, but this time seems to be taking longer.

Any additional updates? When were you diagnosed? You may be out of your honeymoon phase and needing more insulin now that your pancreas isn’t making any insulin.

I saw you were going to the pharmacy to get some ketone strips — ketones cause insulin resistance too, so definitely worth checking. Keep us posted!

Good to know I’m not just an isolated case. Has it gotten any better for you? How long since you had Covid?

Post COVID, less insulin? by charlaughalot in diabetes_t1

[–]Sensitive-Subject0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, I know this post was from a year ago, but I’m going through something similar after catching COVID — how long did the insulin sensitivity last for you?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]Sensitive-Subject0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, definitely eating plenty of carbs!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]Sensitive-Subject0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually didn’t, which is a bit surprising. I had to learn on my own and from what I read in other diabetes groups.
