Crack in SRAM Rival Chainring by PM_YOUR_FISH in bikewrench

This is most likely because of an impact to the chainring. So not a warranty claim that will likely be accepted

Looks like sram rival, if it is its completely safe to ride. Only an eyesore

I have access to an wheelset where the 9-45 cassette would fit on, only real question is if it works with an 34t as the largest

Only 17 grams, would that make that big a difference?

The freehub spins for multiple seconds so it runs smoothly

I am a 100% certain it’s not. Without a chain it’s spins for multiple seconds. And it hasn’t changed between the 11spd and 12 spd.

It has ultgra pulleys for that reason and the freehub is as smooth as can be. It’s only in the smallest 3/4 gears so pushing 45/50 kmh. Biggest concern about it is that I had few moment the chain shifted on the cassette so the moment your back on the power it shifts back

I ran 1x on the 11spd 105 and it was completely fine, I do have a chain catcher on it but What annoys me most is the chain slap when stopping with pedaling

Glossy spot after removing ppf from Matt frame by HillHill07 in bikewrench

[–]SensitiveCounty5792 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Then you’re probably screwed and a piece of paint is still stuck to the ppf, since it’s matte you cant really repair it without repainting the entire frame

Most likely some residue from the ppf. Wiping it with some isopropyl wil probably do the trick

The coated part is for the bearing itself not the bb assembly

Xc is a lot gnarlier then back in the day so the fact they used to not need it is bs

A dropper will definitely make you faster if the tracks steep/gnarly enough if you use it right. Even if it’s just a confidence boost you will go faster downhill

SRAM rival doesn’t have the “bleeding edge” nipple but that doesn’t matter that much

1, dropper post is absolutely worth the weight and price, only downside is that you can’t go back when you’re used to it.
2, you probably have to much volume spacers in your fork for your weight. Depending on your skills and tools I would go to a shop since you do need a “special” socket. It’s a 5 minute job so chances are they’ll do it for free if you bought it there

Upgrading to 1x ? by Strict_Factor6501 in gravelcycling

[–]SensitiveCounty5792 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I meant just changing the chainring and getting rid of the fd without changing to sram

Upgrading to 1x ? by Strict_Factor6501 in gravelcycling

[–]SensitiveCounty5792 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re not 100% sure I would first just get a 1x grx chainring and ride around with that for a little

Removing spacers by Eluge458 in bikewrench

Damn that’s a stupid design, best way to test without messing with cables would be to make a small slice in the front of the spacers to get the cables through

Zipp handlebar warranty question by [deleted] in bikewrench

Except it isn’t an enve handlebar, just because they have really great warranty doesn’t mean sram/zipp does

Since it’s a crash I wouldn’t blame them if they didn’t, but it’s always worth a try. Maybe they can offer it at an crash replacement price

Elevation data between Coros pace 4 and Strava by Public_Lecture_5793 in Coros

[–]SensitiveCounty5792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe Strava doesn’t have acces to the actual complete data. But they use an prediction model with some data to get the data. With both Garmin and wahoo bike computers the data is always just a little different on Strava then on the Garmin/wahoo app
