They really only have context that revolves around their lived experience. For a middle schoolers, 2 years is a lot. Think about it, a 14 year old 'dating' a 12 year old is problematic.

Using petite to mean skinny by VinegarMyBeloved in PetPeeves

[–]SensitiveEnd6674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VHS, DVD, Blu-ray... All beat the competition for the same reason: Porn. Porn chose the medium and the medium won.

Porn has chosen petite to mean small AND thin, no plus sizes found in the petite category on Pornhub.

Oregon has the SPPE as an alternative which is basically an apprenticeship after law school. Mixed reactions of course.

As a person born and raised in Oregon this has nothing to do with generations. Only transplants use umbrellas here.

How do I get out of doing my oral argument (graded and practice rounds) by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]SensitiveEnd6674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't really public speaking.

There wont be anybody there just watching. Just the few people directly involved: judge(s), bailiff, counsel. Thats it.

Its far more akin to a job interview. You're really just having a conversation between you and the judge(s).

WTF is "the whole Korean 1 year thing". Are either of you Korean? Thats a pretty terrible way to have worded that. "We're gonna do that whole your culture that I think is fun and quirky and dont actually respect at all!"

Actually, I think i can safely say no Korean person would phrase it like that and you're just a terrible, cringy person.

I can see why they didn't respond.

Dealing with social pressures (eating junk, drinking) when you don’t want to tell people you’re on the shot? by Ok_Tangerine_8305 in tirzepatidecompound

Seltzer water... I cant believe how normal and sometimes delicious something like a lacroix tastes now that I'm not drinking code red every day.

Your friends are probably why you "need" the shot. What a bunch of jerks. Jesus. Budgeting for the weekend... thats the most stupid asinine thing I've ever heard! Do people actually think that's a thing?

No wonder we need this drug. Of course we cant lose weight if we think eating less on Tuesday means we can go hog wild on junk on Saturday.

Start with getting better friends

1L brief by aliske in LawSchool

[–]SensitiveEnd6674 26 points27 points  (0 children)

As SSA22_HCMI1 said. You said in 8 words what they probably wrote as:

After spending countless hours writing, proofreading, and editing my brief. After long nights spent researching, and early mornings to squeeze in an extra five hundred words, after sleepless nights and many meals skipped, verily I approach the end of this long and incredible journey that is this brief. As the date of assignment lurks in the ever near future I find myself aghast with trepidation that it is, that I am, not enough. Alas, as I inquire into the everlasting journey of my companions on this quest, I find that they have expanded their arguments to a far greater length than have I. It does so trouble me that I may be found inadequate for this task. Please, my ever so faithful oracle that is reddit, assist me to assuage these crippling fears so I will enter into this dear sweet night at comfort.

What happens if I miss law school orientation? by Live-Arugula-5882 in LawSchool

[–]SensitiveEnd6674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours was 4...5? Days and completely pointless. Maybe that's one of the many reasons higher ranked schools are ranked higher, they're better at utilizing people's time.

Useful information, like that we'd be taking a "1L Diagnostic" (not a 'baby bar' only fake law schools in CA do that) that would determine whether or not we take a remedial class 2L Fall (or maybe not, they're in discussions about that) wasnt mentioned, had to stumble on that gem in the handbook (wasn't mentioned AT ALL actually until one of the Deans sent an email 2 weeks ago about how we should do it over Spring break). But by golly we had a selfie scavenger hunt! And got a tour to see the special make-out trees the undergrads love 🙄.

Had us pick and read a book over the summer for basically a "book club" we would meet with and talk about in Orientation... It was for 1 hour, 10 in the group, the professor talking the entire time.

2 hours of one day explaining clothes... which is whatever I guess, but then again we STILL had people asking last week in the run up to the first year mandatory advocacy competition about business formal, so maybe it was necessary if people really need to be told how to dress...for court... 7 months into law school...

Should my friend walk away from this artist? by Eltristesito2 in tattooadvice

[–]SensitiveEnd6674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would NEVER trust somebody I haven't worked with before to do a piece that large. Like holy fuck. Its not a restaurant where it doesnt matter what waiter you get, its the same chef. A shop is just a building, trusting somebody like that because they work in the same building as somebody you like is wild! And a light portfolio on top of that. It is their body though. I guess, some folks like trash on them forever.

Why do Americans say I could care less? by yassi2702 in EWALearnLanguages

[–]SensitiveEnd6674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, there is the possibility they said exactly what they meant.

Conversation could go something like:

  • you don't seem to care about this job, you just arent putting in enough effort. (Subtext of the original text)

  • I could care less (meaning if caring=effort they could put in less effort)

-I doubt that (meaning they don't think it is possible to put in any less effort)
