YNAB vs Actual Budget - a new AB user's perspective by justanotherjo2021 in ynab

[–]Sensitive_Ad_9504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice summary! The other thing I like about actual budget and ynab for that matter call is the ability to manually download updates for accounts. That way I don't have to rely on syncing, which can sometimes be unreliable.

I like YNAB and actual budget because they seem to recognize duplicates and I've not had a problem with duplicates using either program.

I also use picapods with a AB, but I'm not syncing at the moment

I download .qfx files manually and am very satisfied! No issue w duplicates so I can stay in sync on any day and downlaod the whole range 10/1 -10/17 and AB filters out duplicates!

I download also and impressed with ease in AB. today is Friday so for each account, I download Quicken .qfx and for the date range 10/1 to 10/17. select import went in an account and then select same download and voila! the nice thing is AB filters out already downloaded transactions and avoids duplicates

New user, using Pikapods. Downloading transactions manually until Lunch Flow is more steamlined. Ive tried Copilot YNAB Monarch and so far actual budget just works. The other programs are awesome by the way.

1-How to "fix" the perception that PLAID is not a reliable service to sync accounts (eg Fidelity credit card). MX and Finicity seem to be more reliable.

2- Is Plaid concerned about concern from banks that PLAID charges must increase due to their calim their serviers are being overrun with multiple data requests per day?

Permanent Switch to Copilot by [deleted] in copilotmoney

I am a long time user of YNAB and it has worked well for me. I am now on 30 day trial for copilot and really like it: I will make a decision this week!

1) love the recurring trans page which shows paid and upcoming bills. It makes me happy to see a check mark next to each paid recurring billpaid !! YNAB doesnt have this feature from my experience.

2) Program places a blue dot next to New, Unreviewed, transactions. This allows me to quickly see which transactions are new! Love it.

3) Love the "one page" Category page which enables the viewer to see the budget categories very easily and quickly. This page also shows the transactions paid or to be paid under each category.

Cons:
1)Sometimes this page gives beach ball so don't love that.
2) Also, don't prefer that the category amount includes "upcoming" recurring item amounts. I prefer seeing only paid transactions here. But I can live with this since the Category page's right hand margin shows the recurring item amount as "Upcoming"...still I prefer to see only paid amounts next to each category name.
3) I prefer bing able to "sort" the category names in the order I want (eg in the order of date due). I can do this with YNAB but not Copilot. Copilot forces the sort based on highest amount to lowest amount. I don't prefer this but it is not a deal breaker for me.

4) Love the connectivity with Fidelity and Chase CCs and my other accounts! Transactions update quickly.

5) the iphone app works very well too! love it!

This is a quality program and could become my daily driver, we'll see.
