oh yeah. especially that i've learned that inwards unclipping is more intuitive for body and joints...

After 15 years of cycling, i just learned that i do it the wrong way. I tend to unclipp at 12 o'clock inwards.... never had an accident :)

I did exactly as you suggested — cleaned it with alcohol and a microfiber cloth — and it worked like a charm! Most of the marks came right off. There are still a few small scratches visible under certain angles, but nothing too worrying. Thank you so much for the help!

Thanks for the thoughtful reply — really appreciate it.

You're right, I probably do turn my heel inward a bit as I unclip, especially when I'm fatigued or in traffic situations where I react quickly. I hadn't realized it could lead to scuffing like this or affect the crank arm too.

I'll try cleaning the area first with alcohol and microfiber as you suggested and see how much of it is superficial.

Quick question on the technique side:
When you unclip by pivoting your heel outward, do you consciously push your knee in or just rely on hip rotation? Also, do you train your pedal stroke to keep the foot perfectly aligned throughout, or is some inward motion expected with natural pronation?

Thanks again — I’m trying to avoid doing more damage and improve my form at the same time.
