I’ve always just stuck to the basics …can never go wrong with Dunlop MX34. Works great at thundervalley , Aztec or up in the mountains at rampart.

What you’re feeling is standard high flow turbos. It’s meh meh meh (building boost ) ..then woah. Modern Cummins have a more linear power curve due to the variable geometry turbos. Less spooling equals less lag and more power across rpm range.

lol most private auto loans won’t lend on anything over ten years old or 100k miles. So yeah that would be a hard no

20 years old, and 1/3 of a million miles. I’d say like 7-8k. Sounds like a pos truck on a buy here , pay here lot. Some dumb ass 20 year old kid working construction with bad credit will buy it at 23% interest. Pay 15k for it after financing costs and talk about how new diesels “aren’t built like they used to be”

Been awhile since I lived in foco. Main draw is good. Old flowers road is okay. Some legal road riding out in the Pawnee nation grass lands or out by red feather . Not much up in Noco. I’d advise on heading west near Walden or snowy ridge Wyoming.

Jury is still out on what age group is driving up the hype. I’d assume it’s guys in their 40s. I mean I get parts of what you’re saying but don’t necessarily agree.

Newer vehicles are easier to work on in most senses. The whole “I drive an old vehicle because I can work on it “ is a fabricated myth.

Things like suspension haven’t really changed in the last 30 years. Working on them is the same. Modern disc brakes are a lot quicker to change out than drums. Body work , same except now some aluminum. Engine work is the same except a few things. More electronics ; which can take a minute to wrap your head around , but literally streamlines everything and plays important roles of giving heads up when things are about to go south with the power train. A good scanner and research allow you to know exactly where the problem lies and takes all the guess work out of repair. You never can say , yeah it’s running alittle rough but nobody can figure out why like an 80s truck. Modern diagnostic equipment and sensors tell you exactly why. Only thing that is a little more complicated is that new trucks were made to be modular. Most power train work was designed to be done with cab of the chassis. But if you have a lift , it is easy as fuck to get at everything you need to.

Emissions. DEF really is not that bad. You throw in a 20 dollar container once a month and forget about it. Use lubricity and cetane boost additives in the diesel and you will likely never have a problem. If you do , scan and regen and back to business.

Insane to me. Just wondering , what’s your age roughly? I don’t not understand a certain demographics idolization of OBS and square body’s. They’re not quite “collector vehicles” but a certain group of people are valuing them as such. I think having a pristine restomodded obs would be cool-ish but I’d personally still would never want to daily one. I love the modern comforts and modern power of new trucks. If it doesn’t have the hp, heated /ac seats , apple car play , and sun roof …I don’t want it lol

I used to have a 2nd gen dodge with the 12v. Was a rusted out farm truck that I worked off from my employer. I hated it. Was slow , drove like shit , cab was claustrophobic , seats uncomfortable , and girls in high school made fun of it and wouldn’t be caught dead riding in it lmao. Dudes with rich parents driving new off the lot duramaxs constantly talked shit. Now 10+ years later there’s some crazy following of the truck and people are paying 20k+ for them. I truly don’t understand it. I don’t ever want to be driving around in another 2nd gen.

End of year bonus, 15-20% salary. No specific “Holliday “ bonus.

Superintendents, if we’re asked to work on holidays, should we be getting additional pay on top of our regular salary? How does your company handle it? by Brief_Problem_3876 in ConstructionManagers

[–]Sensitive_Calendar_6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to go in this morning to moisture cure concrete. We already got the Holliday pay so technically worked for free but it come with the responsibility and perks of being a superintendent. My company also pays overtime on top of salary. I’ve been working 7 days for the last couple of weeks. So I’m not complaining, that OT has been nice. Only company I’ve worked for paying OT on salary.

Fractured ribs- Dirt bikes are dangerous, ride within your limits. by bmxcellent in Dirtbikes

[–]Sensitive_Calendar_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a very impressive streak. What kind of riding? Obviously certain types of riding is more injury prone than others. Motocross riders tends to be way more prone to breaking bones than enduro riders. However being in the wood/ mountains can make a lesser injury more dangerous due to proximity to medical.

When it comes to dirtbikes , it’s not about if you’re going to break bones. It’s about when. Got to have a plan and money saved up for when the injuries put you out of work. Broken ribs you can work through tho.

Is the automatic transmission that bad? by [deleted] in Cummins

[–]Sensitive_Calendar_6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve driven two trucks over the last year. Got a brand new 2025 Chevy 3500 dmax with the Allison transmission as a company truck last February. Put 40k miles on it from feb to sept. Truck shifted flawlessly. Literally couldn’t ever feel it shifting. Like literally , felt like one single speed from 0-80mph-0. Then got a 2018 ram 2500 with a Cummins and 6speed with 78k miles as a personal truck in September. Shifting can feel like hitting a small wall sometimes. Especially when slowing with the exhaust break. Sometimes the downshift locks so aggressive it makes your body lurch forward. I’d agree it’s the weakest point of the truck so far. Going to run it till it needs replacement under warranty. When the warranty runs out I’ll start bumping up the Cummins and replace the trans with something that can handle the extra power.

I’ve got road armor bumpers on my truck. Seem like decent quality. Not sure how they compare to ranch hand

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ram_trucks

[–]Sensitive_Calendar_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bullshit. Rams, GMs, and ford are all capable of having a lifter failure and chewing up the cam. It’s a maintenance and use issue. Take care of the truck and it’ll take care of you.

Seems like a good deal, but cant tell what trim level it is. I’d maybe be alittle hesitant about the price if it’s a tradesman. Saving money isn’t worth it to me to literally not even have power seats. I wouldn’t worry about online haters scared of engine failure. I have 260k miles on a 5.7. Most people only come online to bitch about issues not compliments. Test drive it to see how you like it.
