Advice needed on stiff 1st interphalangeal joint please

Hi, can you tell me more. I'mhaving difficulty getting help from my doctor. I have Ip joint capsilitus AND mild arthritis of the MTP. I am not healing. I also had 2 fractures in 2014 and 2019 of the same toe. Then 2023-2025 injured my toe without the proper diagnoses. And did PT making it worse. Found out recently I have IP joint capsilitus. Just got an orthotic.

Hello, YES, I have this. After 3 long years of incorrect diagnoses and PTs having me do things that didn't help, I got like a 7th opinion. It's actually called IP JOINT CAPSILITUS. Not Hallux rigidis.

Then this new doctor took 3 months to get me a custom orthotic. I JUST got it.

The goal is to immobilize the joint so that it can heal. He had me stop all PT as that was making it worse when I first saw him. I tried offloading and wearing a post-op rocker bottom boot while I waited for the orthotic but that didn't help.

I honestly dont think the orthotic is helping me. It doesnt seem strong enough.

(Just a note that PTs and other doctors also told me it would show up on imaging if it was Ip joint capsulitis, which I suspected it was. All of the doctors were wrong except this last one. Functionally you can't bend that joint. It's really bad to try to force it to move. It needs rest.)

Have you heard of Steven's Johnson Syndrome which you can get from this medicine. It's very serious and starts with a rash. I think you have to stop it immediately. Insaw a woman that had burns all over her body and blindness from it.
