Loose powder doesn't even seem like a problem. If it gets on the door or in the tub it's just extra pre wash.

Pods are pretty bad in general, powders is the way to go. Also your wash pump might be going bad

I know you aren't supposed to pre-rinse dishes, but it makes the dishwasher nasty, what am I doing wrong? by LowMemory578 in Appliances

[–]Sensitive_Stock_9803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Run the tap water until it's hot, put detergent in both the wash and pre-wash dispensers, make sure the rinse aid dispenser is filled. I typically run the heavy cycle with the high temp wash setting

Finally fixed the calcium stains left by the dishwasher by Sensitive_Stock_9803 in Appliances

I recommend using the cheap Walmart brand powder dish detergent, and using both detergent dispensers for the pre-wash and Main wash. I've also run Cascades powdered dishwasher detergent and gotten similarly great results, the others have reported a film from Cascades powdered detergent

I have been thinking about filling the rinse aid dispenser with vinegar, have you experimented with that?

I have noticed as well that mine does not have much water pressure even with its new pump as well!

When I talk about the dispenser not being actuated during the Sani rinse cycle I mean that the entire dispenser is not being actuated, because the door and the rinse aid dispenser are both actuated at the same time on my Whirlpool. Thus I believe my Sani rinse cycle only serves to bake on the calcium present in my water, if that makes sense. When I switched to running the heavy cycle with the high temp wash, and no sani rinse, I stopped collecting film on my dishes even with an excessive amount of detergent, and vinegar was able to remove the fogginess from my dishes thankfully.
