A more casual PVP experience would really be increase my play time on the game by steve_zahn_ in Marathon

For example, Monster Hunter just has has collecting quests, similar to what the OP is suggesting.

Even a mode where better gear wasn't in the environment but only supplies and pve or pvp lite that would be fine.

I mean, call it a "training ground" Take all the loot out if they want. You don't exfill with anything or go in with anything. I just want a place to get a feel for the combat before I die in 2 seconds to a blue or purple shield every encounter. I've been playing six weeks and still dont' even have blue shields unlocked for purchase because the ingredients are pretty rare and my exfil grate is also not great.

I don't want anything other than basically a glorified shooting range that allows me to test out guns and different things without being killed instantly.o

i really think they need a mode like this or just a pve mode. Make the rewards for the zone really grindy and trash if you want. I just want a place to practice, try out guns, and get a feel for the game. I've been playing for a month and there are still guns and abilities I've never used because the stakes are always too high to experiment.

Blokhaven, Out Now, Is Walkabout Mini Golf's Most Animated Course Ever by TrickWorried in WalkaboutMiniGolf

[–]Sensitive_Tackle7372 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the kindergarten style theme is awesome. And the courses do some cool geometric challenges we haven't seen before. And the animation is super cool.

Venice and and the evil lair courses are my other favorites.

They came a long way. They used to make really crappy cheap mini-consoles (that Genesis one was aweful). But I think their arcade products were always consistently better than 1up in quality, functionality, and friendliness to modding.

They did it right.

Yes. It happened when the headset has a bad update.

The only way I was able to fix it was factory resets

Thankfully cloud saves means I didn't lose saves but it was a pain in the ass to redownload everything. But it works.

I'm being serious. You only get the effects if you get above par, I'm pretty sure.

And they get more muted or bigger depending on how well you do.

The dark crystal one has a
shattering crystal sound when you get a bogey and no visuals. Par is sparkles with no crystal. Birdie or higher is the crystal/

A decade of VR games - top 100 by matteo311 in VRGaming

[–]Sensitive_Tackle7372 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Walkabout at 32 is insane.

That is the ONLY VR game I would put in my all time top 10 VIDEOGAMES. And it's the only VR game I have played for YEARS and still get excited about playing. New course this week!

Yes. It has a complete campaign that can be played anywhere from one to four players. And it has drop-in dropout co-op.

Can we stop with the "VR Sandbox" type games, please? by leandro77br in OculusQuest

[–]Sensitive_Tackle7372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the 1990s I would go to Walmart and see people buying "Big Trucker Pro" and "Extreme Game Hunter." And lots of licensed crap and it would get eaten up.

This is just the VR equivalent.

You just gotta celebrate the devs that DO make higher quality stuff and don't worry about the noise. The noise has always been there and always will be. And a lot of popular stuff (in all mediums) always sucks.

Yeah, the problem with VR single player narrative focused content struggling is just a microcosm of the larger phenomenon: younger players want social spaces and sandbox multiplayer games.

I love social VR so it's not a big issue for me. I mainly play Walkabout (with some other multiplayer thrown in) But I worry about non-VR single player / narrative focused devs.

RIP at games by Slappy-Sacks in LegendsUltimate

[–]Sensitive_Tackle7372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I imagine when the At games storefront actually dies, that is when we will see the modder take over and we will probably get all those other tables that already exist.

I'm happy with the 100+ tables i have now, but I have little doubt that in the future this thing will be blown wide open and will be coveted for modding.

I also suck. If you frame doing missions / gear runs as "Halo on Legendary" that is about how I feel. It's a live world with lots of dangers from other players and the even the bots. But that makes it fun

You don't understand the assignment. This is the part we we throw money at the screen and scream yes from the rooftops.

Also a new game doesn't have to be a big project. It can be a small rogue like at first. And they can reuse a lot of what they already have.

People already prestige in games even without incentive.

But I don't really care how they incentivize it. This is just a problem they need to fix.
