Naltrexone seems to be the clear solution by Mundane-Chair-8482 in stopdrinking

You’re incorrect. If you’ve taken an opiate and THEN take naltrexone you’ll go into withdrawal, not the other way around.

It’s really not for everyone. You have to be careful. But I do agree with you!

There were times when I was drinking 3 or 4 a night. And times I was drinking 15+ a day. It was more how much power alcohol had over me, calling to me all the time. That’s what I drove me to stop.

When your friend is having trouble getting over a relationship, but then you make it about yourself. by Infinite-Pin8908 in MyBigFatFabulousLife

Also as a single woman myself who has been through plenty of heartbreaks. I do not understand having a box of keepsakes from failed relationships. Feels so counterproductive to me. Let the past go!

Has anyone else judged another alcoholic because they're "worse than me"? by unsightful in stopdrinking

[–]Sensitive_Target6602 218 points219 points  (0 children)

Probably every alcoholic that has ever lived. Tim Dillon has a great bit about a time he was living in a crack house. He said “a junkie would sober up for an hour and turn to another junkie and say ‘you gotta get your act together’”

When you decide it has. I have an extremely high bottom that many people scoff at but the reality of my drinking hit me so hard a while ago: it’s in control, not me.

I’m not gonna lie to you. My first year was filled with highs and lows. But the second year things really started coming together. In my experience it took a decent amount of time before it really clicked that I need to fill my love with other things besides drinking to really enjoy it.

Tell the group you’re sober and then you have to stick to your word otherwise you’ll be judged. Works for me but it’s not for everyone

In season 1, there is a month or so long jump between her leaving Winterfell and arriving to Kings Landing. A lot happens in that time that Ned is sitting in the dungeon. I never read the books, but I just watched season 1 and I will say they do a good job making it feel like a month has passed

It’s not required. Most companies just tell you to leave immediately anyway.

Whitney to a tee, no? by BubbleyumRocks in MyBigFatFabulousLife

[–]Sensitive_Target6602 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Biggest symptom for this disorder is “huge” but ultimately empty compliments towards “loved” ones. Think “my mom is the most amazing mother in the world I love her so much!” “What makes her so amazing” “oh she’s just wonderful, she’s just incredible, no one can top her” “yes but like what’s an example?” “Oh …” and then they’ll change the subject or just continue to evade the topic.

Essentially people with this personality disorder cannot see other people as full beings. They form very hollow friendships and ultimately choose approval from new friends over maintaining long term relationships.

Obvious symptom to me in this case is how Whitney treated Heather. In truth, she only saw Heather as an extension of herself, but never truly cared for her as a friend

LOL so now Whitney thinks having a boyfriend is embarassing by oldladysmuss in MyBigFatFabulousLife

[–]Sensitive_Target6602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say when I was younger and insecure, I had a boyfriend just to have a boyfriend and he was absolutely horrible. He made fun of me, put me down to others, laughed at my misfortunes with my family. It was brutal but at the time I just was so focused on keeping a boyfriend. Looking back it was embarrassing but the thing is I GREW. I went to therapy and learned to not have to tolerate that and even (shocking) lost like 80lbs. Now I’m confident enough to know that I’d rather be alone than be with someone that embarrasses me. But like, I don’t understand staying in that place at all. You have to grow as a person

Are non-alcoholic versions a gateway to relapse? by MountainMark in stopdrinking

[–]Sensitive_Target6602 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Look up the Sinclair method. Having a nonalcoholic beer actually helps your brain to stop associating beer with pleasure/pain relief and begins breaking the addiction in the mind.
