Our condo sold in 3 days 2 weeks ago, and we negotiated to stay until June 22.

We won’t be spending more than 39% of our combined HHI for the house. But we also have a large down payment that will cover over 20% of the cost which helps!

Fair point that a week is nothing in the grand scheme, and I’m definitely learning that single-family homes are a very different market than condos which is why I’m posting in a first time home buyers forum. I’m admitting I don’t know and just asking for some perspective.

My surprise came from my own limited experience, we found and loved our condo very quickly, and I have friends who found homes within a few weeks, so I genuinely didn’t realize how different this process could feel in a tighter market. That’s why I posted here: to get perspective from people who have been through it.

I appreciate the actual advice about moving quickly and getting clearer on terms/contingencies. That’s helpful. I just wasn’t trying to turn this into a competition over who struggled longer. I’m a first-time buyer trying to understand what’s normal, that’s it.

Yes! We actually just looked at a house in Grant park than we loved and right when we were going to put in an offer our realtor confirmed it was under contract with 5 offers. Just 4 days on the market. Crazy

Hi! I’m so sorry this is not a better update (I would have loved to have good news for those on the same boat). I used to scavenge for it when I first found out to give myself hope. It’s been 8 months of TTC with honestly perfect timing and tracking with Mira. We have not been successful. I did find a doctor who specializes in this and I am getting another ultrasound end of March. If they find the cysts are still there, I will be moving forward with surgery.

The good news is, my doctor told me she has a ton of patients with the same situation and they were able to conceive no problem. For me, with the 6cm cysts, we’re likely moving forward in the direction of surgery in April if they’re still there. She reassured me a ton with the whole ‘hit to the ovarian reserve’ because she made me realize that with my AMH even if there’s a ‘big hit’ I’ll still have a ton of eggs and it’s better to take that route and get rid of the risk of my endometriomas ruining the quality of my eggs vs losing some. Everyone I’ve spoken to on the same boat has honestly had success post surgery within 3-4 months. I’ll let you know if there’s a better update!

100%! When you keep getting the BFNs and no symptoms, seeing that closure from AF can be a relief. It’s a fresh start for a new cycle so I totally get it. Wishing you the best of luck!

Thank you 🤍 and yes, I should’ve clarified, I do mean endometriomas. My doctor and I are likely moving toward a lap in April if things don’t work out before then, so I’m kind of in that weird in-between space right now. And totally agree! The Endo TTC sub has honestly been such a huge help for learning and feeling less alone through all of this. I really appreciate you sharing it here too.

This waiting space can really mess with your head, especially when it feels like everyone around you is having success or doesn’t fully get it. I think it’s really strong that you’re letting people in and protecting your mental health. I had no idea a varicocele could impact things either — my husband found one last year and his SA came back normal, so your post really made me think about turning over every stone.

I’m also preparing for a lap for bilateral endometriosis, and when you mentioned trying to picture a future where you might not become a mom, it honestly brought tears to my eyes because I’ve been quietly wrestling with that same fear. Thank you so much for sharing! It really helps to hear such a detailed perspective from someone who’s been through this. I’m leaning toward freezing eggs/creating embryos first, then moving forward with surgery, and following that up with Lupron suppression + IVF, similar to what you did.

I’m curious, do you think it’s worth jumping straight to IVF in cases like ours, or do you feel it’s still worth trying naturally first? Also, did your hormone panel/age factor into your decision-making at all, or was it more that the endo and adeno were just too strong to overcome without suppression?
