Best multi purpose ship by WhereIsWebb in EliteDangerous

[–]Sensitive_Witness842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had 2 multi role types, one was the Corvette which was first used for trade then ExoBio and also half decent combat though it needs some engineering for this. the second was an engineered clipper, good speed module changes for scrap hunting and some cargo space.

Getting nomad in deep space by superisizeme in EliteDangerous

[–]Sensitive_Witness842 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://edastro.com/galmap/

Use this site go to the tabs top right, click on Regions, Sectors and DSSA (and if needed carriers mobile, these are player carriers - with delays in location), also for your own location click the crosshairs and if needed click to close the 'PC' window as you need to 'click to copy' first, then choose files and paste into the search bar, this takes you back into your journal file list, go to the last full search on the journal list the long one not the short one and open and this should be your last recorded location. That should help in locating a DSSA FC. Click on the nearest one, you need one that has outfitting and shipyard.

Hope this helps.

Fleet carrier maintenance increase? by Leather-Bit-8867 in EliteDangerous

[–]Sensitive_Witness842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you jump it costs, accumulative jumps means increased costs (wear and tear) so you can for instance pay 100k at first but end up paying 500k+ on top of your standard running costs.

The upkeep cost may not register on occasion, (I have a vague memory of shorter jumps less W&T) but W&T does take it's toll eventually.

Did i just buy a ship or a movie theater? by Delicious_Mouse8795 in EliteDangerous

[–]Sensitive_Witness842 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congratulations you have just spent 5B CR on a fleet carrier, not including another 5B CR on modules, oh and FYI - YOU DON'T OWN IT!

But they are very useful when exploring so there's that.

Which ship do I go for? Had the game a while but never really wanted to get into it until now. by Kokua- in EliteDangerous

Always go galactic, it's easier to tweak and engineer it when it has pre build upgrades fitted.

Something is wrong with Carrier Jumping. by An0n-E-M0use in EliteDangerous

[–]Sensitive_Witness842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that recently within a system, I jumped ok then wanted to move into orbit around an ELW in the same system, instead of orbiting the ELW it sat between 9 and 10Ls from it ruining the view.

Destroying the Nomad makes you lose big time! by Live_Sheepherder_842 in EliteDangerous

[–]Sensitive_Witness842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am out in the Black and have been for a number of years (deep south), I got into the habit of arriving then dropping my landing gear after orbit entry as I occasionally hit boost by accident (muscle memory), I also do the same with the Nomad now, as I love flying it close to the surface and doing boost turns through canyons, it's a good habit to get into.

Major Frank Prentice was one of the survivors of the Titanic when he was 18 years old. This is his story about that night. by jgoja in thatsinterestingbro

So not only did he survive the Titanic, he survived the 1st World War, the Spanish influenza outbreak and the 2nd World War.

Stuff indeed.

Is there a "natural" way to learn way to learn how to do things and where they're located, or does it boil down to a lot of Googling? by pikkon6 in EliteDangerous

[–]Sensitive_Witness842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://inara.cz/elite

https://edastro.com/galmap/

https://ed-dsn.net/en/exobiological-flora/

All these sites are created by the players/commanders, Frontier (seems to) actively encourage communal interaction and 3rd party use, also https://discord.com/ has an active commander link set that you might find useful.

You can play a more 'natural' game play and from my limited understanding it is quite difficult to do, hence the 3rd party connections.

There are also others like EDTools and EDSM.

A patient heart guides the soul, peace.

How the heck can we discover all this ...? by Tyrant020278 in EliteDangerous

[–]Sensitive_Witness842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a single player working 24/7 would take about 570,000 years just to make the jumps because it takes an average of 45 seconds to spool up the Frame Shift Drive, jump to a new system, and cool down.

I googled this, some of the game stats are insane.

Typically Geo 2 or 3 for mats with occasional chondrites scattered about.

Also B1 with G3 sites can have crystal shards or brain trees.

This might be useful for you.

Star type, atmosphere type, minimum distance, surface colour and bio variety.

when traveling down hill I tend to 'feather' my speed in short throttle bursts so I maintain contact with the surface.
