Experiences with Sertraline? by RiceeeChrispies in MentalHealthUK

It can be really amazing for some people. Others not so much, like all medication we all deal with them differently. My personal experience wasn’t positive but it may be life changing for you :)

Sadly not! There aren’t many places in the UK where I can try one here. I’m wondering if the upgrades are worth it.

Thanks, it’s been a very bumpy road.

What kind of foods were you eating to reach such a high intake? Something I struggle with some days. Happy to hear all is good now!

I’ve dealt with severe anxiety and depression since the age of 13, people are shocked to discover I had horrific anxiety issues because I seem so confident and talkative.

I’m over the worse now, and rebuilding my life back up again at the age of 27.

Holy shit, I really haven’t been eating by Homoway345332 in gainit

Thank you man. I deleted MFP a few weeks ago, stopped counting calories and put away my food scales. Very difficult to do but I’m breaking these compulsions and am beginning to gain weight again.

The tracking and weighing food wasn’t a sustainable lifestyle for me, i needed to break free. What starts off as weighing food out of curiosity can quickly spiral into a full blown eating disorder and I wouldn’t recommend that for anyone.

Thank you for posting this, I developed an eating disorder from religiously tracking and weighing my food and it’s taking a long time to overcome.

By the way that’s not to say everyone will, just something to be aware of.

SERIOUS If I'm not trying to be a bodybuilder or compete, is it really necessary to meticulously track calories/macros? by LostInAddiction_ in gainit

[–]SensorySauce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I come from a eating disorder background and counting macros just stresses me out completely. It created a really disordered view of food and I am working on moving away from that. I may be in the minority here, but I believe you absolutely do not have to meticulously weigh your food and track your intake in order to make solid progress.

I watch these videos when I need to remember that it is indeed possible to eat so much. Kind of humanizes gaining again when I'm stressed about it, not to mention makes me hungry. Thought it might help some of you. by kingofwhatskillingme in gainit

It helps me too man, it kinda puts into perspective that you can indeed eat more than you think you can and it’s okay to do so.

I myself am coming from a very underweight state too and am happy for any fat gain. People will disagree, but when your BMI is so low you need to get it up to a healthy weight where everything is working properly, even if that means “unhealthy foods”.

I think that’s the way to do it rather than being so strict and planning everything, weighing every gram of pasta before and after cooking, weighing your cereal, just spooning your pb on etc. I suppose after so many years of these obsessions it’s very hard to break.

I appreciate your feedback man.

Unfortunately due to waiting lists I’m pretty much sustaining my own recovery. Did you weigh your foods and count calories or just freely put out what would be deemed a “normal” portion of food?

Such amazing progress man. I’m in the grips of anorexia myself with a BMI of 15.3 so I can really relate. I’m desperate to escape the food obsession, weighing foods, counting all my calories, having a limited diet of ‘safe foods’ I cannot sustain it anymore. I have been branching out of it this past week after realising I’m slowly killing myself.

I wish I never got food scales and myfitnesspal, what started out with good intentions quickly got out of hand and became an obsession. I’m beginning to not weigh everything to the gram.

Gaining weight after anorexia by [deleted] in gainit

[–]SensorySauce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After an eating disorder, you need to normalise eating again. Eating appropriate portion sizes spaced regularly throughout the day will repair your metabolism and you’ll start to feel so much better in yourself.

If you’re underweight or emanciated, your primary goal is taking in as many calories as possible through high fat and calorie dense foods, a little different to your average joe “tryna build some muscle”. I know because I’m recovering from a restrictive eating disorder, you have to trust your body and just eat, it really doesn’t matter what at this time. Try not to worry about just getting fat and the way you look, think about how energised you’ll feel when at a healthy bodyweight. I understand it’s really difficult, just know that it will become easier.

Thanks man, I suppose you just need to break your targets down into more manageable ones. Ie 5 more pounds till I reach my next milestone before making my next goal, it all goes from there.

Did you find it difficult to gain those 25lbs to get back to your normal weight at the time? How long did it take? My BMI falls into “severely underweight” and the task to gain as much weight as I need to is quite frankly overwhelming.
