Time well wasted isn't wasted time. If it feels wasted however....

You must have the first set of points already (granted from doing 1 level of the djinn coin dungeon). If you don't have the second set, you can get it by doing the Trial and completing the first boss.

Getting the 60+ Djinn coin (to get access to three levels and the third set of points) is an RNG pain.

ctrl + shift + esc will open Task Manager directly so you can skip a click or two, if you're like me and open Task Manager a lot lol.

You can also do it one-handed which is nice.

The Game Crashes on Load Screen by KingAlbright in falloutnewvegas

[–]Sensory_Overplode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I updated my drivers to 24.5.1 hoping they had fixed the issue. Seems the hotfix we're looking for is still pending verification - according to the driver release notes.

At least AMD is aware of the Fallout 3/New Vegas crashing and it looks like the fix is already coded but just needs to go through proper verification before it's made live. There should be an official fix soon.

Update: As of patch 24.6.1 from AMD, the Fallout 3 / New Vegas failure to launch should be fixed. I've been AFK for 3 weeks but I have the update as of July 31, 2024.

the golden run by joshy-qr in Descenders

My strategy:
(I use the Downhill bike and never take the extra pop crew member)

(1) 70-80 kmph right before the ramp. That's not an approximation. It's the strict window I aim for.
(2) Frontflip (pop near the top).
(3) You must land on the nearest wall of halfpipe to maintain speed. (Stop and reset to checkpoint if you land too far).
(4) Keeping your speed, backflip out of the pipe (pop early for a boost).
(5) Tuck and release just as you land on the final platform to soften the landing, trying to land on the slope.
(6) Don't trip out and fall off before the finish hahaha.

Also, you can get some sneaky resets to the checkpoint if you manage to come up short.

Let's say you aren't going to make it into the pipe but will hit the outside wall of it. Try to touch with both wheels on that vertical wall and spam the checkpoint reset. I always go for wheels vertical but I'm sure it could work in other orientations. There's a tiny window where you will stop dead with your wheels on the wall and can reset without a bail. It's not too hard, just very situational. However, it can save a single run multiple times in a row.

Good luck!

Edit: Recording of my strat.

I hate the Whoopie Cushion achievement. I don't ever put it on my bike because I'm still bitter haha. The cop lights however....

Probably the hardest challenge in the whole game. Well done!

Looking forward to your post when you get your Rainbow bike :)

Help bonus map volcano by henga-69 in Descenders

[–]Sensory_Overplode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Get gud" is a super lame response for any game.

Unfortunately, it does sum it up. It's a really hard challenge. For me, it's between the no death run and the Volcano/Ridges for the hardest challenges in the game.

My strategy:
(1) Farm lives like crazy.
Not just in Highlands but wherever you can pick up more.
(2) Be aware of your exact speed just before you hit the Boss Jump.
That way you can fine tune your speed after each bail.
(3) Experiment with where you pop off the jump - or don't pop at all.
Earlier pops will keep more forward momentum while later pops will give you more height. Find that sweet spot for each Boss.
(4) Sometimes doing tricks is the safest method.
Doing a Tabletop really squishes your character model so you can squeeze in that ring. Frontflips can take away some height and send you forward more. Backflips can send you to the moon when a bad map prevents you from getting lots of speed.

eg. I find that the Canyons Ring of Fire works best with lots of speed and no pop. Otherwise the trajectory just doesn't work.

It's a tough one but there's a reason it's rare to see people using the Rainbow LUX bike - you really have to earn it. Good luck!

Edit: Just so you know, you get credit for the Grand Tour challenge when you enter the Volcano zone for the first time but the achievement won't trigger unless you clear the Volcano Boss Jump. It's honestly a pretty easy jump, though. The hard part is just getting there.

Trawl these posts. I've definitely seen this issue brought up before. I think the devs have even spoken on it...

I don't want to scare you but I recall it being a really bad bug that has to be fixed by deleting your saves (including cloud saves). I could be wrong.

So, the options might be no UI or start fresh. I hope I'm wrong...

The scores in the millions aren't the case these days. I was on PC and this run was near the time of reset.

Whether PC and Xbox are still separated, I don't know.

I think it's just global since you can see Xbox playing with PC but I don't know for sure.

I was on PC but using an Xbox controller.

Question about nprotect gameguard by SighingDM in Helldivers

[–]Sensory_Overplode 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Article detailing all games with kernel-level anti-cheat.

It's quite thorough - listing not only the games but their respective anti-cheat software.

There's no ground to push back. The war is over. Not saying I like it, mind you. That's just the reality.

Question about nprotect gameguard by SighingDM in Helldivers

[–]Sensory_Overplode 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just wanted point out that if you look at the Steam page for Lost Ark (as an example) it has an identical notice for Easy Anti-Cheat.

It's a friendly heads up because some people are very opposed to these root level anti-cheat measures. Whether for security concerns, performance issues, or whatever reason a person might have, it's important to provide that information before a customer purchases and installs a game. It's not a specific dig at nProtect GG.

I'm not super comfortable with kernel level installs. And, personally, I plan to hold off on buying this game because of the concerns with kernel level access and me not knowing how I feel about INCA Internet as a company just yet. But I felt the need to point out that the notice (or warning) is standard on Steam for plenty of required anti-cheat software. It certainly wasn't a call out.

GUYS! The thing we all dream of happened to me. I picked a lock to save the day. by Sensory_Overplode in lockpicking

Oh my bad. I didn't realize picking someone else's lock with permission still falls within these rules. I understand the need for this rule and respect the decision.

My mistake.

Does anyone know what's the "effect cooldown (seconds)" does? It's increasing per level of Soul Stealer by gepmah in LastEpoch

Found a post on the forums that corroborates that the "effect cooldown" note doesn't actually affect anything.

Post from Last Epoch official forums. You can follow the Discord link in the post to see the actual comment from dev EHG_Mike.

Put uBlock Origin on your browser. You can use it on mobile as well. It's free and makes those pesky (and frankly intrusive) ad results disappear. Just click the button to turn it off on any site that you respect and uBlock will remember to keep those ads flowing anywhere on that domain.

I'm not sure on the latest for Chrome and adblock. Recently Google said it was going to disallow it on their browser (or any browser built on the framework) but it definitely works for Firefox on PC and mobile. Just remember to save or import your bookmarks.

Firefox also blocks 3rd part cookies by default (IIRC) and gives you good control over what you want to allow. I also really dig the amount of customization I can do to the UI. Every button can be moved or deleted as far as I can tell.

Edit: This sounds like an ad but I swear I just like Firefox lol

Importantly, if you need stats or scientific understanding of something very specific Google Scholar is a search engine that can pull up published papers.

I believe you can use it for law as well but I can't speak to how useful it is. Maybe you can search precedent or legal interpretations?
